Boo fucking who. I spent $140 on gas in two days not counting my work trucks.

Phrases such as “bring them on” or “dead or alive”, he said, “indicated to people that I was, you know, not a man of peace”.

As a matter of curiosity, what do you drive? Whats the engine size? And were you pulling a trailer or had a load on?

That's about £35 a day, with our prices that will get me about 180miles, or 120 around town/cities. I drive a 2Lt Diesel TDI. How many miles you doing a day ATG?

Backtracking because he knows an attack on Iran would fuck the US economy, and the global economy, in the ass.

Its a bit like when people seek forgiveness before they die. He is desparately trying to bow out without going down in history looking like a "thick gun slinging cowboy". I would suggest that its a bit too late for that. I guess one way of making amends would be for his family  to pay back some of the US national debt that was "invested" in the Gulf war. I am sure that wont be happening though.

Bush not seen as a man of peace?  You're kidding!

What's real news is that it took him three years to see how those words could be seen as aggressive.

That day I went 220 miles. 100- 150 lbs. of cargo. Traffic was heavy.
I bought a V8 because I have to pull a trailer a lot.
I'm going to buy a small 4 banger asap. for work when I don't need the trailor.

21 gallon tank, 19 +/- mpg, 2007 honda odyssey, 400 +/- miles to a tank.  gas is $4.41 a gallon where I fill up = $92 a tank...per week pretty much.  My xterra commuter car is slightly less per week.  Num nums!  I love suffering for someone I didn't vote for....  dog bless amurika.

when a society gets used to paying a certain amount of money for a certain product or service, and the price of that product or service is going higher and higher with no end in sight while wages remain the same, well, I dont think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out why people are getting upset.

I hate hearing that argument.  You guys are bitching about not bitching, thats hilarious.

We live in interesting times. Oil, food and just about everything else is going to cost more from now on. Everyone is going to have tighten their belts and there ain't a damn thing anyone can do about it. There is something pleasing for me in that all of the 'live in the moment' crowd are getting their come-uppance for their irresponsibility and lack of prudence. Humanity needs to come to terms with the fact that we live on a rather small rock with a finite amount of resources. Renewable energy, recycling, environmental protection and all of these kinds of things are finally going to take their deserved place at the centre of political decision making.

Not really the Euros and Aussies try (and fail) to get the Americans to understand our train of thought.  Although some of us sympathise with you lot having to pay raising fuel costs you're still pretty damn fortunate with those prices.  You guys never seem to get this point and tend to play on the should we feel sorry for you card?

You're right about us not bitching.  But it's what we are used to, it's how its always been.  You'll look like an idiot starting to protest about fuel costs given Europe/Oz has an accepted practice of levying extorionate fuel prices for the last 20-30 years.  And anyway us lot are tree hugers, less fuel buying = less co2 emissions! Hooray!

(and we don't all have v8 engines)

My 2.5TDI Land rover will pull 3ton up the side of a mountain no problems. Smaller better tuned engine is what you need. Had a V8 Mitsubishi Shogun, couldn't pull shit. Get a shogun 2.5tdi Diesel. Bullet proof engine, never breaks down and tuned to give you the best mpg possible for the engine capacity. You can get a relatively cheep import version for a few grand less if buying new, think they are call Pagero. It will replace your current truck and save you running a second.

it would be poor strategic decision to change leaders in the middle of a war.

Also, give us good alternatives.  Kerry?  come on.  Gore?  If there was a more centrist candidate from either side, i'm sure that would have helped, but the democrats were so far left, it gave many no choice.

It's mad that a country as vast as America still ultimately has a two-party system. I always think of that episode of the Simpsons where the two aliens run for President.
