..please! I'm not overly into <1980 movies (not the time period, but when the film was actually produced) - more a fan of more modern day age set in say, World War 2 or Vietnam etc. Films I have already seen:
  • We Were Soldiers
  • Black Hawk Down
  • Jarhead
  • Full Metal Jacket
  • Saving Private Ryan
  • Band of Brothers

Any recommendations? Thanks..

Bravo two zero.

The FX aren't amazing but the accuracy of the tactics is amazing.

Oh and its based on a true story.

Films that fit your criteria:

Das Boot
Der Untergang (AKA Downfall)
Thin Red Line
Schindler's List
The Pianist

Apocalypse Now (1979) is a must see as well IMO

Your point? The uncut version of Das Boot was roughly 5 hours long and never a dull moment.

Alright, my bad.

Another honorable mention: The Deer Hunter (1978). Make an exception for that film for the love of god

Behind enemy lines. If you are just looking for an action movie, with some war included, take Stealth. God that film was awesome <3.

That's the film I actually wanted to say, but all I could think about was behind enemy lines. Enemy at the gates is really good!

I thought 'The Patriot' was a load of crap. Do you have to be American to enjoy this movie?

One thing l will pick out that's wrong with that clip. No one tapes a compass to their rifle, as the metal effects the accuracy of the bearing.

I will recommend
The Wild Geese. Good film
