I fucking hate them. The AA was improved in 1.2 but is still quite useless against airplanes, hence they gladly misses helis at 50m distance! It seems that after 1.2 only the real good pilots bother to fly, i.e. the basebombers. After 1.2 I oficially hate EVERY map with airplanes, the stingers are never there when you need them and if the airplane comes it comes fast, drop one flare and a load of bombs and ofcourse survive while you end up dead.
I couldn't disagree more... I play both the planes and AA a LOT and AA SIGNIFICANTLY improved... it's almost a fire and forget, i take down a chopper/plane almost every single time a take a shot at one. Just practice a little... fire above the target and it's a breeze. As far as being a pilot goes, from personal experience it's almost impossible to out maneuvre an AA missile... and it only takes 2.

The aviators are as free as before to baserape with their bombraids, and it ruins the game totally. Remember this one time at dalian plant there were almost no one using the airplanes (or atleast able to use them) and the map was fun to play. This last week if you play US, it's almost impossible to even get off the carrier. Take a heli and an air plane shoots you down or rams you, or take a boat and you might get to land just in time to taste the bombraids.
this is true somewhat... however there're TWO AA guns on the ship, use the second one and take the planes out... after 3-4 times they'll stop coming. Read some AA gun tips in the Wiki guide and on these forums... don't stay in them all the time... wait for the plane to come, then jump in and waste it... with 8 missiles in the thing 2 of them are bound to land.

Only thing left to do is to play commander to avoid being pissed off all the time. But if I take dalian plant as example again commanding isn't much fun there either because of the offsetbug that makes arty/UAV/supply end up a few cm off from where you clicked.
Hate to tell you this... but it's NOT a bug... the arty overshoots depending on the distance away from the arty. This deviation is pretty easy to figure out and it is directional. It really only matters on the very large maps, and even then it's only about the width of the Essex at it's farthest point.

I've always tried to accept the airplanes and told my self, just shoot them down, take another route and so on. But you can't! There is never anything around to shoot them down with and taking the alternate route you still end up bombed because of the über-lockon system they have... The only thing left to adapt with here is to either become a planwhore or just don't play maps with air planes (which means you end up searching for a new server every 30min)

Dude... come on... what do you think when you hear that airplane passing. He can only see you if you're IN the vehicle... jump out get back in when he passes... travel in buggies they're FAST and stop almost instantly. It's not very difficult to avoid the planes. Just have to always keep them in mind and react appropriately.
