When I scan an image, with my little scanner, I encounter a problem.

My mother scanned it on her computer and sent it to me. Now, here's what scans when I do it:
When I went into the control panel and did a preview thing, it turned out just right. I noticed this happening in the past where the asshole gnome in the computer goes "He-he I'm gonna crop the image." Any help is welcome.
It's a Dell Photo AIO Printer 926. It's a 3-in-1 printer, scanner, and fax machine. Any help would be appreciated.
