Ok so I deleted the post in the 2142 section as this section is more popular

It occurs to me on BF2 and 2142, so this thread can apply here.

Basically, I run on wireless, I've got the best USB dongle there is for my router, I'm running on all low yet I get lag spikes that ping me up to 700 for a good few seconds before gradually running down within a minute, which, by that time, PB have come in and kicked me for a high average ping.

Is there any good things to do to cut down on lag?

1) End background processes
2)In the console type "pb_sleep 500" ENTER "pb_writecfg" ENTER

My advice kerry, buy a nice long Ethernet cable and run it through to the router.

I used to be on wireless, but with the Xbox coming i decided i wanted a more stable connection - I've never looked back.

um...was talking to kptk lol.

Anyways, stupid vista are programmed to search for a new network every minute or so.So you get those spike lags.Spam me on xfire to send you a program that kills that feature.

I know who you were talking to... I'm just saying that I haven't had a problem with vista...

I did have wired before I got forced to convert to wireless. My router will not allow an ethernet cable, so I'm fucked.

I run on Vista also, so I've spammed Metal until he gives me that program

I´ve heard, that this tool could help: http://www.chip.de/downloads/Wireless-Z … 27038.html
It seems that Windows checks the connections over and over again, thats why many get lagspikes with wlan. This tool deactivates the checking. Maybe it helps.
