Right, so about 3 months back I had compiled a list of specs for my new build from newegg, and the day that I was ready to hit the 'buy' button, something came up and I ended up delaying the purchase week after week after week. I had put the idea of getting a new computer on hold up until now, and I need your help, bf2s. My knowledge of new hardware that has come out since then is limited, as I've not kept up with news on the latest gear, so I don't really know where to start. That's where you come in.

Basically, my budget is around $1800 USD, and needless to say, I'm looking for a pretty kickass system with priority towards gaming. Dual Core? Quad Core? AMD or Intel... I don't know anymore. You decide for me.

Oh and to whom it may concern, karma will be dispersed upon input. Thanks in advance.

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, go.

I think you could get a good Q9450, 4GB RAM and one of the new ATI cards when they're due for with that kind of budget.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Which one(s) would that be?

I'd wait for the new cards before going with a GX2. There could be money to save.
