Oh come on, how many other games have such dire circumstances?  How many post-apocalyptic games are out there - Duke Nukem?  Unreal Tournament?  Command and Conquer?  Red Alert?

I admit that this is a stretch for Battlefield 2, which beforehand had stuck to foreign battlefields not far from the news headlines.  But it's just a game.  Take it for what it is.
Duke Nukem wasn't about an army invading the US. Never played UT. C&C and Red Alert were always so far out of the norm, it didn't really matter.
I'm sure it will be fun, all i'm saying is the thought of my country actually being invaded, as impossible as it is, is kinda disturbing.

The scenario of the US being invaded in real-life is very unlikely (they'd probably nuke anyone who gets close) but who cares? It's something we rarely see in modern day first-person shooters; it's usaully set in Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. But what's this? In the US! Now THAT's interesting...

And if you're a US nationalist, you don't need to complain citing how unrealistic it is. Just go kill those MEC and Chinese SOBs!
Dude. I am a very big US nationalist. I LOVE the idea of maps in the US. Especially on the turnpike and stuff.

Wy is it so hard to imagine that the US could be invaded. What if there would be nuclear war? As much as I know the US CAN NOT reppell a full attack from the russians. Imagine all major cities destroyed, most of the military wiped out and so on. It would be total chaos.

China has a enormous army, if they for some reason wold like to invade USA, that would be the time.

Since the boosters are for only one account (switching is possible but inconvenient) and we are three players at home, the six maps would cost me 60,- Euro! I think I better spend this money for a new full game ...

Wait, release that the US invasion (lol, not US invading) had a run-up to it. Canonically, it seems the MECSF would have been successfull in blowing up the Persian Gulf sub base in BF2SF and in their attack on the USS Essex. The Leviathan map with the sub base in it has a description saying that if the MECSF were victorious, it would be "the beginning of the end for US forces in the Middle East"

Not only that, but it seems the Chinese were able to hold control of Wake Island, using it as a staging point for a US attack. With the nuclear explosion in the Middle East (which would cause anti-war riots etc.), and the destruction of the USS Essex (even more riots), the PRC and MEC would have a perfect chance to attack due to US political instability.

Remember, this ain't some random group of maps; it's apart of the overall Battlefield 2 storyline (even though there is not much of it; besides, a soldier [eg. you] fighting in the Middle East wouldn't get a huge insight into world politics. It's not like they've got time to sit down to watch the 6 o'clock news anyway)

I want it.  My prediction on the Euro Feces and Armored Furry booster packs:

There will be 1 or 2 maps that are EXTREMELY popular (i.e. Karkand, Warlord, Ghost Town), there will be 1 or 2 maps that jet jockeys love, and the rest will meet with mixed reviews.

However, I'm dieing to fly an A-10
As discussed in other threads, the war in BF2 takes place sometime in the near future.  That said, it is possible that we (United States) will be very vulnerable SOMETIME in the near future, due to our crippling economy, lack of soldiers, etc.

As they said in other threads, although it may seem impossible to you that the U.S. might be surpassed by another country in military/economical strength, all other empires have been defeated/surpassed by others.  The Spanish empire, British empire, Roman empire, and the Nazi empire are some examples.

If you told any German Nazi in 1939 that in 6 years his country would be defeated, he would've thought you were just plain crazy and out of your mind.

Back in 1984 when I went through basic then AIT, our DI wanted to see a movie.  We all, everyone in the company, went to see Red Dawn.  That was an interesting movie.

The difficulty with an invasion of the U.S. is that too bring the troops from china or the middle east you have to cross an ocean.  Invasions from Canada or Mexico would be easier.

I still like the idea of this expansion, it's a game and it would be fun.   I would also love to see some European maps.  Fulda Gap anyone ?

I was thinking of the actual place.

It woudl make sense it was a map in something called "Red Crucible".

It is one of the area's in what used to be West Germany where it was expected any invasion by the Warsaw pact countries would come through.

well as the other guy said you can't invade the us everyfucking citizen with respect for himself got a gun over there and that's many people. the us also has a history of rebelry and the country is just to big to cover the only way you can invade it is to nuke it first and attack it 20 years afterwards when the nuclear winter is over. and try thinking of this scenario the pla in manhatten you got +100.000 windows with a sniper in every 5ft one it would be a deadtrap. plus even getting there would be nearly impossibble and landing would be to because they don't got any hovercrafts

I agree the US will never be invaded (at leadt not within the next hundred years) but just because we all have guns dont mean shit.  In Iraq, before we took it over, every household is expected to have at least one kalishinikov.  Now Iraqis are still allowed to bear arms but its with a limit of one per family.

Reminds me of C&C Generals which was also made by EA. Same armies too. Maybe there will be more expansions/boosters following a similar storyline.

As other people have mentioned, invading the U.S would be an excercise in futility. Yes, China does have an insane number of soldiers in its army, but they're also 10000 miles away across the Pacific ocean, with the worlds most powerful navy and airforce in the way. Now imagine that china did, actually, decide that the American pigdogs must die. Not only would their supply lines be staggering, they would have to protect that supply line across the largest ocean in the world, at the mercy of U.S forces. As far as I know, China has no active aircraft carriers, meaning the United States would have absolute air superiority as well as the defensive advantage, and even defensive sorties over the ocean would have to be launched from mainland China, while the U.S can launch from Hawaii, even without carriers. Simply put? No military commander in their right mind would invade the continental U.S, and if they did they would almost certainly lose.
