Another problem

PSU: OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply 100 - 240 V CB, CE, CSA, UL, FCC - Retail
Case: Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Alright so in the last thread it wasn't working because im an idiot. Now for this one, same setup, it just gives me the post code "8.2" = Enable ATX power supply. Great... So I've reset the cmos about 30 times and still nothing. The board sounds like it wants to get started then just gives back that post code. =[

Hopefully with some help i can narrow down whats causing this giant headache... everything is plugged in correctly, it was working fine the day before, everything was running nice and cool. Now it just wont start.... any ideas?

Un-plug and re-plug all cables. Some probably just fell out.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. got that 4 pin thing plugged in beside the CPU?

if that's in... go through your motherboard manual to try and see if there's any jumpers that need setting.

Still the same thing, code 8.2.... everything is plugged in, double checked. The mobo is still getting lights on and the attempt to start up is still going (a light looks like it tries to come on and the PSU makes a little noise).

check your PSU is on their list. If not... it's either new mobo or new PSU, your choice lol sorry man.

I used a multimeter on the PSU and its definitely putting out. i hate to think its the mobo.... Where can i find a list of compatible PSU's for my mobo?

im going to start the RMA process for the mobo.... then if problem still continues, ill have to rma the power supply....

Hmm...

You might find a list of compatible PSUs for your mobo on your mobo manufacturers website - otherwise, you could try emailing them.

But, if you've checked the PSU voltages with a multimeter and they're all within +/-5%, then it does sound like a dodgy mobo.

I'm thinking maybe they just don't get along well. Or, one of them died overnight. Judging by the reviews for my PSU it seems others have been dead overnight, and even a post on their forum said that will only power it for about 3 months.

Im guessing OCZ just sucks, in which case they will get a very very critical review from me. Either way im getting on the phone w/ newegg on monday and start seeing what we can do about the RMA process, and if they don't get along, if i can use that money as credit toward a corsair psu. i just seems so odd that the problem would occur overnight..... Regardless, im goin to be having nightmares about my PC not starting when i wake up the next morning for a long time.

Ive heard nothing but good things about them. I would have used a good stock one but the case i got did not include their PSU. a little upsetting now after what ive heard.

Get a refund and buy an Antec PSU.

(though I must admit to being something of an Antec fanboy, and your mileage may vary (and other quality PSU makes are available))
