chassis temperature

i have only one chassis fan mounted at the back, but the mobo & chassis also support a front one. i have read that the cpu 'thermal environment' should be kept at about 38°C, according to the asus utility mine runs at 46°C.

is it a good idea to run front & rear chassis fans for a gaming machine? all my hardware is run at stock settings without overclocking.

curious to know what your chassis temperatures are before i buy an additional fan.

I'm quite certain that whatever temp is marked "chassis" isn't really reporting the temperature of the air inside of your chassis.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

it says system temperature & i assumed that was the air temperature in the chassis. perhaps it's the motherboard temperature.

Yep, 46 C is 114.8 F, so I think it'd be heating up the room considerably if it was that hot.

I don't have a case temp sensor on my Nine Hundred, so I used a spare indoor/outdoor thermometer and put the outdoor wire inside the case.
