Why should they? How would you like it if you had a hell of a lot of your hard earned money taken away to support someone who is too fucking lazy to get a job?

Yeah well... I'm no fan of the government myself tbh... and I see where you're coming from in not wanting to give them any money... It would be a miracle to see even a tenth of what they get from taxes used for the common good.

Yet, I think the Swedish model is clearly the best. So ideally, if politicians weren't the selfish greedy motherfuckers that they are around here, I'd go for that.
I would argue the Swedish model is ideal only for countries as small as Sweden.  America is as capitalistic as it is largely because of its size.  It's very difficult to organize the same level of socialism in a nation with 300 million people.

Yeah that is possible, although with a different system of organization I bet the US could do it if they wanted to (because I take it for granted that the resources are there). Unlike Greece for example, where, despite our small size we're sooo royally fucked up

Heh...  I've never been to Greece, but I hear it's nice as far as climate and scenery.  The people sound nice, but I have heard there is a lot of poverty.

As for America...  It would be possible for certain states to organize a system like Sweden's.  Some states have a lot of money to work with, but a lot of states don't.

Also, keep in mind that setting up a system like Sweden's in America would involve heavy taxation like theirs, which would encourage industries to leave the states involved and move to states with lower taxes.  Already, we have a problem with industries leaving high tax states like New York and Michigan and moving to low tax states like Georgia and Texas.

The best socialization I've seen in America involves states giving full scholarships to students that make good grades.  In Georgia, for example, a student who makes good grades can get a full ride to any state university in Georgia.  It's a pretty cool program, and it doesn't require too much taxation.

Other than that, I think socialized medicine is about the closest we'll come to Sweden's system.  Americans would never stand for paying the level of taxes Swedes tolerate.  Also, most of our businesses would just outsource more as a result.
