I've got quite an old Acer AL1714, it uses like the oldish plug and I had to use a convertor to plug it into my graphics card. Just wondering if I get a new monitor with DVi input would it look better?

inb4 Samsung.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Yes. Also check into any warranties they offer (actually looking at them they both offer 3 yrs. I buy the samsung. Not much price difference, and they have a good reputation.

Check in your country, but here Samsung has a 3 year zero-dead-pixel policy.

Also that Samsung doesn't have DVI.

Also I see very little difference between DVI and VGA, but it is the plug you need if the panel supports HDCP, etc.

Also if you can't spring for Samsung, maybe go Lucky Goldstar 100%! They're pixel policy is pretty smexy too.

They did have a LG one (that I have) 20" for £130 but I can't see it there anymore.
Oh and if you wait till Wednesday the "this week only offers change" and you might find something there.

Does 2ms vs 5ms produce a noticable difference? (If it has to do with some sort of refresh rate, I have looked to 60Hz CRT for 3 years now)

I wondered because I really liked the HP W2207h 22" because it can go portrait mode.

Sorry to hijack but my brother says he can notice the refresh rate when he looks at my CRT, he's got an LCD, is he talking shit or do you get used to no refresh rate so much that you can see it on a CRT?

We all had CRTs and i don't remember seeing LCD refreshing itself when i went from CRT to LCD. He probably uses lower refresh rate than recommended.

doubt it, what's your refresh rate?

I can notice 72Hz, anything above is fine.

also, I've not been keeping up to date with monitors... is the samsung pebble still the most popular?

You can notice refresh rates on CRTs, not on LCDs. LCDs are progressive, while CRTs are interlaced.

Yep

DVI = Digital

VGA/D-Sub = Analog

Digital > Analog
