GTFO, I have an 8800GTX dont call me a fanboy, I'm netural, I go with whatever is better, but with the 280 more expensive and less performance, its a shit buy.G-NOT_(:0) wrote:

Well, the CARD BLOWS. Its outperformed by its last gen 9800GX2 by quite a margin, it sucks.

Yeah, okay, anyhow, the GTX280 still sucks.

since then the drivers have improved immensely...
theres some new drivers out now for the card and it should improve...other than that, its a single gpu chip, not dual chips into one card...and still, 5-10 fps lower than the 9800gx2....thats pretty damn good. Espeically haviing beta drivers....
*sigh* ati fanboyz
ok g80 fanboy, obviously you're not upgrading anytime soon...besides, weren't the 8800gtx's $800+ when it first came out, if not higher? well, if you hadn't notice, technology has improved so much, there's no comparison between what you own, and now. The 9900gtx is $650...that's a reasonable price because it has competition with ATI's 4850...back then, the 8800gtx/ultra never had any competition, that's why the prices were insane!JaMrulezass wrote:

So before you judge the new gtx280, just look at ASUS 8800tx and cry. Right now, there are some new drivers out for the gtx 200 series...so expect a significant increase, also, give or take 1 month, the gtx280>all (especially the 8800gtx)

I don't know why people are comparing it to the 9800GTX, it should be compared to its nearest rival in terms of price.
It's cheaper, but this idea of it being just as good as a GTX 280 is a bit misleading. YES, according to the benchmarks, there about the same (give or take it looses and wins depending on the context), BUT, the GTX 280 does not suffer from the stuttering of the GX2 that is a draw back of it's SLI. Benchmarks dont take note of this. You may think, well what is a bit of stuttering, well, true, but if it happens a lot, your expensive video card does become a bit anoying :\wrote:
(9800 GX2)Which is cheaper and better at games.
That said though, I dont think the premium for the GTX 280 is justified to get rid of that problem, but technically speaking it is better.
If not more, but it wont come out. It will be way way WAY (did I say way?) too hot to do a dual GPU version, unless there is some extensive re tooling done. Even a 55nm shrink is not on it's own going to make that possible. My money is on a Ultra 280 with 256sp on 55nm come september. At $1000 or there abouts.wrote:
Now, when the 280 GX2 comes out, then you'll see the shit. But then when that comes out, how much will it cost? Probably $1000
