Lets see I keep pushing this damn thing harder and harder and it keeps going. I just bought a new monitor and I am now running at 1680x1050. Get this... I score 50-70 FPS in COD4 with 32 people playing on Vista. I did'nt even get that when I was running 1280x1024. I mean all my new games old games run fucking nuts great. I was going to upgrade to a ATi when I buy the Phenom chip set next year but not now. What do you guys think? 8800GT best well round card ever made?(Price/Performance)
I think the fact that it was constantly sold out for the first couple months would confirm that it is .
Crysis excluded, you could probably hold off purchasing a new card for the next year and be quite happy with the performance of that card.

Yeah, though I haven't exactly had long term experience with video cards (this current gen coming out would be the fifth I've seen), my dad has one as well and he says it has been the best price/performance card in a long time...with a good mobo/memory/processor to back it up it can handle every current game at max settings with good FPS (50+).
Crysis is not a game, it's an interactive graphics demo.

Just bought a 8800gt 512mb myself, made by Gigabyte. It comes overclocked from the factory so I don't have to screw with it which is
I looked around and the 8800gt performs better at higher resolutions than most competition, except for the gtx or an overclocked card. Lower resolutions it's usually pretty close however.
I don't know how to compares with the 9800gt but it will often beat the 9600gt which is great.

this the best video card i have ever had
this the best video card i have ever had
I got the 8800GT 512mb too
I think it's a great card, at least if you're other system hardware is good...
It doesn't work optimally with 1GB of ram; I can only play on medium , with sometimes a lagg. (while in the past, 2GB ram, high settings no problemo)

Fuck you, my 3870 is just as awsm.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
My 8800GT has been a good card as far as hardware goes, but I'm miffed with their lackluster drivers. I'm waiting for some more official 4850/4870 benches.
I will give NV this, their 8xxx series architecture did set a new standard for performance, much like the 9800 did when ATi released that years back.

8800gt owner here but shit ass processor, kinda blogs down the performance for my comp. Still using the amd 3500+ athlon
Evga 8800GT 512MB owner here
I only paid $200 USD bucks for it and have had no problems doing what I want and still getting high FPS
I saw the BFG 8800GT 512MB on sale a few weeks ago for $150 USD at best buy but I like Evga better so it didnt bother me to much.
Best card for the money by far.
