speaking of blacks, I wonder where Jesse Jackson, and his Rainbow Coalition is, perhaps the people of Iowa could use a good speech from him about how they were abandoned, then they could watch him drive off in his convoy of buses .
You may not karma the same person in a 24 hour period.lowing wrote:

-How about implying that lessons were learned during Katria that may benifit this situation?
-How about actually looking at all of those volunteers filling sandbags and helping to protect their home and town, not sitting on their asses waiting for the government to actually do something?
-How about having a local and state goverment who actually have a brain cell between them, and call for help as soon as practical, and not delay the process? Not to mention corrupt as hell.
-How about the emergency services actually showing up, and not have a 1/3 of the police cut out on their own?
-How about NOT seeing images of stores being looted wholesale, with people wading home through floodwaters with a tv on their shoulder?
Have you ever BEEN to New Orleans? Either before Katrina or after?
No, you went straight for race.
Oh, as an afterthought: Here in Austin, we had plenty of Katrina evactuees. There are still quite a few still milking the system; anyone who is has no respect or pity from me. There was a job fair here in town less than 3 months after Katrina. The city provided buses FREE OF CHARGE that spread throughout town, taking anyone who wanted to go to the job fair there, and would bring them back. In the entire city, less than 50 people total were transported by bus. Lack of transportation was not an excuse.
On the other hand, there were plenty of stories in the news here about people who got off the bus from Houston (and before that, from New Orleans), took a look around, and went out to find a job before they even tried to find a place to live. The record for getting a job from one of those self-starters? 30 minutes. THOSE people, I have respect for.
(Did you see me, at any time, mention race? No. Why? I do not think it should matter.)
There's no rioting and thievery because you can't riot and thieve underwater. The entire are is under 10 feet of water in case you forgot.
That is not a uniform depth, as I am sure the place was not built perfectly level. Also, they managed to find a way in New Orleans. I would submit that there are less people in the area prone to be looters or rioters.ceslayer23 wrote:

A lot of the contruction workers were members of several Mexican gangs. Not only that, murders are up drastically, and cops are being shot at a rate 3 times that before Katrina.icecold2510 wrote:
