just lookin threw my awards and i saw this war collage ribbon, apparently u need a win/loss ratio of higher then 3.00. Just wondering if anyone actually has it? Seems kinda hard to get.
There are people that have it, just very hard to believe that they got it wothout side-switching just before the round ends.
volx has it!(TOP3)

I have it. It's not hard to get, but requires a few things to make it achievable:
1) Start trying for the 3.0 W/L early in your virtual soldier's career... the longer you wait and neglect it, the harder it will be. I started about 50 games into playing, where I had around a 1.5:1 W/L. Didn't take long to hit 3:1.
2) Keep in mind the goal, to win a lot more than you lose. If you are like me and play on a server for multiple hours at a time, you will usually notice that 1 team is noticably better than another. Be on that team. You shouldn't really ever have to switch except maybe when you first join the server. If the teams are very evenly matched, see #3.
3) Learn to fly planes and helis and fly them well. Planes can single handedly turn the tide of a battle, and helis on the maps without planes. Get good at using them and you can guarantee your team will win the vast majority of games. On the flip side, no matter how good of a ground troop you are, the outcome of the round will usually always be determined by which team has superior air power. A lot of people are upset at this fact, but that's the way it is. When you start pulling in 50:0 K/D rounds in a fighter jet regularly, you will also notice that your W/L ratio is coincidentally going up quickly as well.
4) If all else fails, play with people you know are good and will carry you to victory. Join a clan. Most clans who play on a public server together usually dominate because of effective use of comminication (VoIP) and good team-work. Playing with a clan regularly can guarantee you a good W/L ratio. If you can't hack it via methods 2 and 3, join a clan.
The most important thing is that you start working towards that 3.0 W/L ratio very early on. If you've already got 2000 games under your belt and are only holding down a 1.28 W/L ratio, don't even bother. The longer you wait to work on your W/L ratio, the harder getting to 3.0 will become. Once you get into a groove of manufacturing consistent wins, maintaining that 3.0 will be a breeze. I got the WCR a few weeks ago, and without really making a conscious effort, have improved that to 3.25-3.35, varying as I go. Also, I never switch teams anymore when joining the server, except the few occasions I join the other side to squad up with a friend.

I made some pretty badass collages when I was in grade school
The WCR Ribbon encourages unbalanced teams. I think it is a foolish ribbon for EA to have added to this game.
lol
You most definitely have that right.Adonlude wrote:

I want to add that you side-switchers out there are no better than stat padders flipping boats fo repair points. You both leave your team hanging one the entire game and one in the last 5 crucial minutes. Badges and ribbons are fun to shoot for but they should not be at the expense of a quality game. Why should you "A LOSER" be allowed to join the winners that put all the work into victory.....you shouldn't. I know auto balance sucks folks but I think everyone needs to turn this on until EA figures a way to lock the teams 5 or 10 minutes into the game.
Also if any EA or Dice guys happen upon this thread PLEASE make the war college ribbon based on individual wins while playing the position of commander not from your whole career. I think this would tie in better with the 50 command hours needed as well as produce some better commanders that do their job rather than fly jets the whole round. And the team switching would become a mute point.
DISCLAIMER: I don't mean everyone.

I got it. To do it you need to understand how the system works.
1. Once you have cleared shaders on loading you will get logged in and credited with a loss or win even if you log out.
2. When you quit....unless you quit before the previous round ends you will get credited with the loss or win for the team you were on....even if you leave in the first seconds.
with that said here is how to do it.
1. Quit playing 64 player servers. There are several reasons for this...the players are not as good on the smaller servers so you can dominate.....and the rounds are faster.
2. Play only 16 player servers and play on a server with 20-25 maps per round. Log in with friends....get onto the same side on Team Speak and dominate the map.
3. On a 16 player server 1 3-4 man squad working as a true team will dominate every map.
If you do this you can get about 15-20 wins an hour. It will take months to make up your ground....but it can be done. I had to make up over 300 wins and keep a 3:1 on top of that.
It can be done....legally without team switching....but it is hard work!

I personally like the idea of making it commander wins, since hey going for a victory by your self is really impossible, but being an effective commander can turn the tides of the battle. You have more say over victory than any groud pounder does. You also have more power than planes and helicopters.ab2dzeus wrote:

the esiest way to get it is to join internode 6 sharqi and play mec, you win almost everytime without fail.

this ribbon destroys true fair gameplay, as you constantly see your squad members team switch.... sucks!!
I posted already long ago about this... maybe some people have this ribbon, I don't give a shit, EA should not encourage us to get a w/l ratio simply because IT DOES NOT DEPEND ON YOU 100%. (NOT EVEN 50%)
If you enter a server, the round is about to end and you are on the losing team... nothing to do, just lose!
If you do your best but are in the n00bs and whores team that don't know what teamwork is.... nothing to do, just lose that round too!
If you are team switched by server and can't switch back... just lose again and again....
WCR is the worst idea... all those who got it team switched, that's not fair gameplay.

I am getting close to a 3:1 ratio and I do it without switching sides. What I mean is that I actually switch sides sometimes under certain circumstances. I don't switch at the last second just to get a win, even though I have been on the winning team many a time, and gotten switched by the server to the losing team at the last second, or taken a loss because 30 seconds after a games starts an admin decides to end the round and change maps and I happen to be on the team that has a few points less. I will switch sides if I join a server and the teams are uneven (i.e. clan that works as a team vs. the other side are all noobs.) That dosen't happen every round, but the heck if I'm gonna be cannon fodder. After taking a loss, I do whatever I can to hop on the other side if that side is using teamwork and mine isn't. I want to be on a team that plays like a team, that is fun. Just so happens those guys usually win too. It's best when there are two teams that play well, and the round comes down to one team or the other winning by less than 10 points. Those are great games, and I never bail on those, even if my team keeps losing. It's fun because it is a real challenge, but that is also rare.
However I do want the WCR someday, so If I have to suffer through playing in a boring round, being on a team that dominates to earn it, I'll do it when I can because I can't undo that times I take losses that I don't deserve. I think I could still get it, even if I just put up with the unfair losses, and never tried to get on the winning team, but it would take much longer (one unfair loss negates 3 fair wins after all). But I think a team switch is not cheating prima facie. For instance...
1) I decide at the begining of the round what team I want to be on. I will try all round to make the switch. If I play a round or two on one team and decide to change teams, 90% of the time the team I move to (or try to move to) wins. Sometimes I have switched to teams that ended up losing. When that happens I take the loss without tring to change back. Fair is fair, I picked a loser and I lived with the loss.
2) I try my best to help the team I start on, until I can actually switch. Sometimes It takes almost 10 deaths before I can move. If I can't make the change before half the tickets run out, I stop trying for that round. At that point I have too much blood invested in the current team I get stuck on, win or lose.
After all, it is the war COLLEGE ribbon... You should get it for being smart. While one very good pilot or one very, VERY good ground pounder can carry a team, it's the better team work overall that wins the round a vast majority of the time. I think I'm a fairly good team player. That dosen't mean I get a ton of teamwork points just playing a medic or resupply. I find that often they are the worst team players. Many do nothing to help the team win, they only care about getting as many points as they can so they can rank up faster, and a self obsessed medic can easily earn as many points on the losing team as on the winning team (perhaps more). I do however do my best to help the team. I play roles the team needs. I do my best to follow my commanders orders. I sacrifice flag capture points to cover the guys that are caping the flag. When an enemy squad shows a pattern of always tring to flank, I will hang back and guard rear flags (using C4 to lay ambushes) . The point is, teamwork leads to wins, and I can see the difference between a team that can work as a team and one that can't, so why should I fight with a team that I know has little chance to win?
That being said, I also picked up a few good tips to help anyone earn the WCR
1) If you join a server and you do not ever actually spawn, you will not get a win or a loss on your record from that round. So, if you join and see that you are on MEC vs USMC, and USMC has 150 tickets, and MEC has 10, DO NOT spawn. Wait for the next round. If you spawn you will just take a loss, for a round you did not even play. You might also just want to leave that server, if the score is that one sided, the winning team will likely win the next few rounds or more. That or decide to be on the other team on the assumption they must be better team players. (But they might just have a very good pilot that carries the team, so either side could lead to a dull game for you.... unless you are a ace pilot, then you might have more fun sticking with the losers.)
2) When you get on a team that is much better and wins more, stick with them as long as you can.
3) If you are the commander, or a squad LEADER, you won't get auto switched by the server. Squad members and lone wolves can get changed to the other team. So be a squad leader if you can. I logged nearly 30 hours of game time before I learned this. I could have avoided MANY losses from getting switched at the last second. ALSO: important, if you play commander, read many of the good guides you can find on these forums on how to be a good commander, and do what they advise. The same goes for being a squad leader. If you play as Commander or SL but act like a lone wolf your team is actually more likely loose, not win.
4) When you play with a GREAT squad leader, put them on your "My Leader Board" here on BF2's.com, You can then see when they are online, and what server they are on. That way you can fight with them again and again. One great squad is usually the key to victory, and if you learn to be a great squad leader, the two of you will win nearly every round.
I believe that ANYONE that follows at least 3 of these 4 tips, who also can maintain a kill to death ratio of at least 1:1 or better can earn the WCR eventually. But of course, if you have a thousand games under your belt (or more) before you even starting trying to earn the WCR, it may be nigh impossable if your W:L ratio is much less than 2:1 just because of the time it will take.

Here is my post from another thread about how to approach getting this ribbon: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?pid=187577#p187577
I agree that it should be commander W:L only. Although understanding maps tactically does play to advantage even if you are not commander. You win this ribbon by winning, and you win consistantly by playing smart. I am glad that I do not have to worry about winning anymore, playing to win is not very fun at all. You have to be that lone guy protecting the TV Station or the Airfield. THere were whole rounds where I only got one or two kills, but they were the vital ones. Plus you need to be a good commander, 50 hours of bad commanding takes its toll.
Even playing hard and smart for a long time, I only barely got the 3:1 ratio, in fact I won it with a 3.0005 or something ratio, in a game where my team lost and my ratio went under 3:1 probably forever. You can say I for a moment touched the sky and things just worked out.
If you really want to win this, play on the same team as a top 10 player, they all have much better than 3:1 W:L ratios now, its just the past losses from earlier keep their overall ratio down.
