Thread might be way too early, but I noticed it's about that time fireworks start showing up in stores around here. I read a story on Fark about how this fourth of july is expected to be a lot quieter this year compared to the past. Kinda made me sad because I don't think I know anyone who doesn't enjoy fireworks.

Just wanted to know what people think. I know osme states don't allow them at all, but anyone who gets them, what's your favorite kind?

i forget where, but i read that there were a couple major explosions at some chinese fireworks factory.
appearently they provide like, 60% of the worlds fireworks, or some ridiculous number like that. the price has gone up, and combined with the gas bullshit, no one wants to buy them.

a damn shame if you ask me.
about five years ago we had some FUN fireworks wars...not just bottle rockets, im talking mortars and everything.
two years ago i was in texas helping to run a stand. now THAT was fucking fun

I used to just cut fireworks open and re-pack them so they would explode.

One year I had a broken remote control car, and we used to remote and the reciver from inside it to blow shit up remotely...Actually I tried to make a cannon that launched the stars out of one of those little fountains off my roof, but it just exploded.

exploding things is fun.

12 days till Canada Day!!! Gonna be lotsa fireworks there.

Parker, that explosion was on an episode of the Discovery Channel wasn't it? Some idiot's broke into the factory and started lighting them off in the front yard then one flew into the supply building and set the rest off.

I live in the dry  bushy deserts of Arizona, so no fireworks here.

Some friends and I used to drive to new mexico to get fire works and then bring them back and have a blast. My favorite would be the mortars that launch high in the sky and have big awesome displays. I remember one time when I drove my truck around a neighborhood while some friends launched mortars into the air from the  back of my truck.

Good times.

firework accident?

In Washington we really don't have many illegal fireworks besides m80s, firecrackers, and bottle rockets. Thing is no one is usually selling fireworks until a few weeks before. And like Sere said, the days afterwards, you can go in and get all the fireworks you want for dirt cheap. Vancouver is right across the bridge from Portland, and in Oregon it's illegal to use any fireworks that go more than 6ft off the ground (something like that). Most the time you go to a firework stand they assume you're from Oregon too. Anyways, most the time my family stocks up on mortars and take them to Oregon where our relatives live.

My dog hates 'em, but I like them. Although instead of buying real fireworks, me and my friend generally just make our own improvised stuff.

ha, in my town there are outdoor vendors that sell fireworks but we can't use them.  We got to go outside city limits to use them.  We light them anyways.

I loved lighting up Little Dynamites and bottle-rockets.  Roman candles are fun but don't have a bang.
