Read the entire article, they go on to say that current sanctions against Iran are weak and can be easily scaled up to financially screw Iran and give them a bigger incentive before getting anywhere near military options. Plus there's absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Iran could get a bomb within the next 5 or so years, so it's hardly a time-critical matter.

Also, as anyone in the US surely knows, when your country gets threatened or attacked, the people run under the cover of power and support for the government goes way up, the government responds by getting more repressive. Every time Iran is threatened with attacks or if an actual attack were carried out, your just kicking every moderate Iranian in the nuts. If a moderate governmenrt in Terhan is something you want, you should be against threats to Iran.

*Iran wants to use the oil it uses as an international political weapon by controlling the price and production rate.
*Iran uses elements of its militaries to train forces to fight nations that Iran disaproves of. (Yes, the US does the same thing- not my point, try to stay on track here).
*Iran is trying to develop a nuclear capability, which can EASILY be altered to produce offensive weapons. There is a very limited use for a defensive nuclear weapon after all- possible, but only under very restricitve conditions.
*The retoric of Iraq's leader, while being mainly bluster, is directly threatening to many other nations.

I would submit that these actions thrusts Iran into the arena of international political combat. nuclear capability, economic sanctions, war, training irregular forces to fight by proxy, these are all tools used to fight in this area. The US and USSR used them all to various effect duting the Cold War.

If your goal is "to be left alone," stay out of this arena. How many goverments are advocating sanctions against or the overthrow of Switzerland? Is South Africa in danger of being attacked?

Well I grew up in a war zone so I know how the cost of war is counted. I seen it from a civilians eyes. For me its counted in human lives. Innocent human lives. Lives which are lost as political hawks push their own addenda which is more about money and power than freedom or democracy.
Forgive me if I don't pander to ex marines and solders who have followed orders handed down to them by immoral rich white men who's sons are kept as far away from combat as possible.

War is not a soap opera for retired solders to relive their own past glories.

The US has been meddling in Iran for decades.
They did overthrow the Iranian govt and install their puppet - the Shah.
Iran has done nothing, same as Switzerland and South Africa and yet the US meddles.

The less nations with nukes the better. The more of these ultra-destructive devices there are, the higher chance there is for one of those things to 'disappear.' And when one of those things disappears, it'll be a bad downward spiral.

That said, I'd rather NOT a war with Iran because quite frankly diplomacy with words is superior to diplomacy with people. If we must have war, hopefully it would be in response to an actual act of war (rather than Ahmadinejad being his silly self).
