I need to tap the wealth of your computer knowledge!  I know there are computer gurus reading this right now...  I am a fireman from Arizona so I don't know alot about computers...  My problem is that everytime I load BF2 (the game) the audio cuts out repeatedtly.  It is always at the same interval, for 1 second then back on for three, then out for 1, on for three...  This is during the loading, and if I get into the game it does it to.  What is it?  It was intermittent before but after I loaded STAR WARS Battlefront II is does it repeatedly...  Coinsidence?  Some may say, just reload the game but wouldnt that erase my profile?!?!?!?  HELP ME PLEASE, I need my crack pipe!!!!!!!  What is it, how do I fix it?

Heh, your rank/score is stored online. However, u might need to remove your figurations on your computer, Check MY Documents-Battlefield2 and your users in there, remove the folders and restart the game...

And update your soundcard... what brand is it? (or is it onboard?)

yeah I say check check your sound card too also go to the BF2 option sound configuration and check stuff there too, also you can go to this site if it helps. Also check your Audio drivers, whom ever you got your PC from go to Microsoft update and see if there are any new install for hardware that you might need to update, your Card might be there.

Is your hard drive being accessed when the delays happen? If so more ram is needed. 1GB minimum for a gaming system.

I tried to run microsoft update as well as check if my Direct X is updated, should been since I only bought the computer in AUGUST.  It downloaded a new version (Dec.2005) of Direct X and some other things and now the when I load the game everything is choppy, like there is not enough RAM or something....AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!  F-Microosoft!

Sound card drivers updated? Check the manufacturers website. Also, whats in your system tray? Try stopping all unnecessary applications then run BF2. If its ok then something is running which is interrupting BF2. Trail and error to find out which one.

As mentioned before, try to see if it's another program causing interference. Click Start, Click Run, type MSCONFIG and hit enter. Click on the Startup tab and deselect everything. Then Click Apply Changes, Click OK and let it restart. The run BF2 to see if it's fixed. If not then you can go back and reselect the programs you want to auto run on start up. If it's fixed, then you need to deselect one of those programs at a time to determine the cause.

Update drivers sound drivers from the manufacturer. Get the Direct X driver that BF2 offers at the splash screen that pops up when you put in the BF2 disk in your drive.

I would run a fresh install of BF2. Your profile doesn't get deleted since it's stored in a seperate folder. Even if it were deleted you can retrieve it though the login screen with your e-mail address.

Come back after you've tried all of those.

These are great suggestions, i will print this thread for the future.  I updated several drivers and put a piece of toast into the DVD/CD rom drive...  It works now(not kidding, if fixed whatever it was) so from this point forward I will shove toast into my PC... lol  Seems to run fine now.  Believe it was my sound drivers, I guess.  Thanks for all your input gang!  See you in Karkand!

EA giveth, and EA taketh away...

yeah - unless you back up your profile-folder it goes as part of the un-install process...

that's why you have to remap keys and adjust settings every time you re-install..

Nice one on the toast part - don't think I'll try that one tho..

1 GB of RAM is okay you shouldn't be getting audio stutters just because of it.

I have an X-Fi sound card and it would do the same as yours, but the only reason it did was cause i never had it set in "game mode."So if your card has that option i would check and make sure you set it in "game mode"

I too have an X-Fi card and to be honest - I run BF2 in both entertain and game mode (depending on wheter or not I'm listening to music while I'm playing)

I have never experienced these problems...

But then again, as we all know, PC's are dependent on oh so many things - so just because it works for me doesn't mean it works for all, so it will probably be a great idea to try the different modes. (especially since BF2 can become quite iffy when run in "theater" EAX
