I was on an EF server, one run by a clan called AK101. I had just got in a jet, and was looking for targets. I heard the "we've lost control of an outpost" radio message, so I eagerly looked to see which flag to bomb. Apparently, someone had capped the Oasis Outpost.

For those who don't know, that's the MEC uncap.

I bailed over the base to check this out for myself.
As you can see, the flag is at the bottom of the post, and it's not showing up on the radar or map.

At first I thought this was one of those bugs that effect only one person - like the invisible UAV trailer, or the red-tag bug. I mean, surely if it really was neutralized, none of the vehicles would respawn?

The tank at the bottom of the screen was the one I used to destroy the transports/other tanks. The jet I bailed from and the jet in the second pic which got shot down, along with the two choppers and all armor/transports were not respawning.

I then see this message at the top of the screen:

The guy you see to the right (nikrum) is an admin. He had been sitting there for a minute or so restarting the server. At least, thats what I guess he was doing. I got one of those "your connection to the server has been lost" messages and when I selected the server again, there was one person on it (down from about 18) and it was on great wall - the map which we were on before.

Any explanations? Has anyone seen this before?

That's whack. One time I went to cap the hotel flag on Oman with the rest of my squad but once we neutralized the flag it wouldn't go any farther.

I always rofl when that glitch happens in a full 64 player server. Theres always 90% of your team on the flag trying to cap it for like 5 minutes

This happened to China's Airfield on wake island. It was some clan server and they stacked china and started calling the US team hackers for breaking the flag.

Hmm.

Maybe those "uncappable" flags are actually not uncaps at all!
And everyone was just scared off by that red, crossed circle and the constant "stop baseraping" babbling.

Let's all cap those final flags from now on!

There was no one there by the flags. It was doing it by itself.

Maybe the original 32p OSS had no uncaps, but the 64p map did. This could be some kind of remnant of that, kind of like how you sometimes see people killed by [25MM GUN], [SIDEWINDER], etc.

I doubt it, Ive been looking at the EF maps and both Taraba & GW flags in the redzone arent complete (telegraph cables...with no poles!!). Theres no outside bases on OSS, unless the 32player didnt include the Wind Farm flag, yet 64 did. Duno.

Anyway, you sure it was a ranked server? People can make serverside mods that dont require downloading of maps, but the core of the map (vehicles, flags, spawnpoints, etc) can all be edited provided staticobjects isnt modded.
So for OSS, you could make both uncaps...cappable. You could add more vehicles in too, provided they are already loaded by the staticobjects.con file (you couldnt add an Su30, for instance...but more Tigers, go ahead).

Titch did it for the Wake FAV race: we had ~30 FAV's, all modded for higher acceleration and top speeds, both teams with a single uncap flag at, and spawnpoints at the South Village: no other flags or vehicles.

Thats my thoughts anyway

Well, the server is ranked as I've played on it before, so it's no server side mod.

Second, I'm guessing because not many people who haven't played the game before would buy EU, and it's very unlikely an experienced player goes onto an uncapable flag (I mean come on, how many times have you tried to cap an uncap?)

Strange bug anyhow.

Whilst we're at it, anyone else noticed that 32 player Dragon Valley on the load up screen shows all flags but Refinery as gray, but when you get in game they're all Chinese?

Wow lol. There is no such server settings to change uncaps being cappable. That is crazy though that it did happen.

I hate it when the flag refuses to change for one side but not the other....happened twice on Wake in the last 2 weeks to me with North Base and Airfield.

I remember watching a Chinese guy spawn at an American flag once..., it was me and and a clanmate, capping River Village, just us two, and the guy just spawned while the flag hadn't changed. He wasn't even in a squad.

Negative, seen it before perhaps three times in total. The flag drops, goes neutral and goes almost to the top of the pole but wont go any higher. You could put 64 players on the same team there, it wont capture. A pretty rare bug.

Yeah, UAV shows its clear and it ends up with our entire team on the flag. One other guy from another team steps on the flag and it goes up.
