McCain aide regrets terror claim
A top adviser to John McCain has apologised for saying a terrorist strike on the US would benefit the Republican presidential candidate.

Charlie Black said he regretted the remarks to Forbes magazine in which he said a new attack on US soil would be a "big advantage" for Senator McCain.

Well it's true. The Republicans are seen as tougher on terrorism than the Democrats. I don't think he needed to say it, everybody knew. Except maybe McCain?

They could organize one as part of their campaign. I say nothing too fancy, something like an assassination attempt...

But remember: the budget is there, use it! No sloppy shit like sniper fire in Bosnia yeah? Stupid bitch...

just ask yourself who benefited from 9/11????
with the wars and big brother laws???
However you need to win and Bush is far from winning to make it an advantage

Charlie Black is right

Look at Thatcher, she was hated before the Falkland war but when it happened and Britain won she got praise and i believe she won the next election.

Yeah, nothing boosts your popularity than a war. Well, initially.

well, the real issue is why democrats (especially liberal democrats) are perceived as soft on taking care of the terrorist situation.

what are they going to do to change perceptions?

Funny thing...a Dem said the same thing a while back:

Hardly a blip on the scope.

Hillary claimed she would be the best democrat to be able to handle a terrorist attack - yet failed to back it up with her plans on how she would actually do...anything.  if they at least said that they would do x, y, and z, then we might believe that they have thought of the issue.  of course to their defense, they can't say too much since then the terrorists would know what to look out for.  even so, some generalized notions of what might be done could be given...at least.

It wouldn't be the case if LBJ, JFK, Truman, or Roosevelt were running. They were seen as tough on defense. The party has shifted.
