Hmmm. Finally got around to trying a reinstall but still have same problem...I didnt delete the profiles, could that be the problem?
Patch is coming out so I tried a reinstall, again... It worked, I installed BF2, didnt patch, jumped on a game and had no problem, so I installed SF and Patched, and now I am getting the same CD Key is Invalid message. I was kinda hoping to play the game with the new patch.
Did you upgrade yo 1.41?
Not sure about SF, but in the regular BF2 if you havn't patched yet, the key is unencrypted in the registry.

install bf2, patch, restart, install sf, patch, restart
I installed BF2, then tested it, it worked. So then I installed SF(which automatically patches the game to 1.1), then I installed 1.41. Then I went to play and I got the CD Key problem.

Buy a new key/copy. They only cost like $10.
you dont have to install the patch all the time. install bf, patch, sf,ef,af and patch again.
Correct order, was a whole topic trying to figure it out once. Anyways, anyone have ideas how to get this working besides buying another copy of the game?
the "correct" order is just nonsense. install bf, patch it to 1.41, after it is patched, install SF and rerun the patch. a new copy wont help if it is a local problem.
the key is saved in your registry, there is no need to delete your profiles.
the special forces key is at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2 Special Forces\ergc
and the usual bf2 key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc
you can take a look at those folders with regedit. if the special forces key starts with x9392 and ends there, or is very short (it should have like 100 characters), you have a local problem.
if that doesnt work and your key got copied by some malware, you have no choice. you can only contact EA support and ask for a new key.

Its probably a mod causing it.I had problems with FH2 and poe.Try uninstalling those and then reinstalling vanilla.

I deleted everything BF2 related, period. So its not that. Im gonna go unintall it all, install BF2, patch to 1.41, and then try that. Maybe SF is the problem, if thats not it, then Patch 1.41 is the problem somehow.
Also, .Sup, glad to know that this thread has passed your "high" standards for amazing. I havent had a problem with Vista, and this game worked on Vista for 3 weeks before it took a shit.
