I was just wondering if anyone knew about this possible virus going around MSN. It starts out with this harmless message saying "Will you download this file to look at a picture? I want to see if its good for myspace." Well, I downloaded it, but can't open the file, and now it gets automatically sent to other people without my consent and I don't know how to remove it. Any help on this? Is it a virus? I don't want to have to reformat >.>.
yeah seen it before.
Try uninstalling -> reinstalling msn. If that fails... reformat time
You have an antivirus prog?

My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.

LOL you fell for that?
For fuck shake man.
yes and you might have to. it wasn't a picture, but a virus, and now it is sending itself through your computer. there is no telling what else it has done to your system, so your best bet is to reformat unless you know how to manually remove it. (but if you downloaded this in the first place, you better reformat)Guy.Buddy.Friend wrote:

That one is in your registry. Possibly. That virus could be a keylogger. It could be any number of things. Hell, it could be a ticking time bomb that will go off and completely kill your hard drive and all important .dll files. It is best to reformat if an antivirus program doesn't locate it.
There are many different varients of that... My sister seems to have clicked all of them....Guy.Buddy.Friend wrote:

"Is this you"
"Do I look bad in this"
etc
Some viruses are real nasty buggers
Yeah, the other day I was throwing up everywhere.kylef wrote:

Reformat is the easiest way to remove it
rofl
virusscan/malware scan your pc.
And tbh, I just can't believe people click it. You just know it's not their style of typing/asking things. If someone sends me a link without saying hi, how are you? yadee yadee or at least some recognition, I never click links. Tbh, I once said to a person she had a virus, just cause she sended me a funny link without anything else.
Maybe I'm just starting to get paranoid

Well you see, I always get these random messages because girls are paranoid about the way they look, so I'm used to it.De_Jappe wrote:

yeah never get anything off of msn, they just attach viruses to pictures, bad idea to open them, whenever any1 sends me a pic I always just laugh and tell them they have a virusGuy.Buddy.Friend wrote:

Hiding file extension for known files is the stupidest thing one can do (in folder options in windows). They can change the icon of an .exe or .scr or .bat etc to a .jpg icon and you will not see it's a virus from the extension.
However I fail to see how one can still fall into something like that...

no you can combine 2 files into one, such as hiding an exe or a bat, and attach it to a jpg, so when you open the jpg it also opens the hidden .bat or exe fileDeathUnlimited wrote:

I only have trustworthy friends, how can they be your friends if you can't trust them?Ryan wrote:

I managed to get it off. I deleted MSN, and the files I downloaded. Did a system scan with AVG, it picked up some shit and cleaned it off.
Thats what I was thinking.Tehremos wrote:

Just try to avoid to click links, especially if it's the first thing they send.
Better to ask: did you just sent me a link? than clicking it and having a virus.
