@ haffey. I suppose it isnt beyond the realms of possibility that Nvidia could turn around with a wonder driver that allows there cards to excell. For me, I think Nvidia need to move onto GDDR5 as much as 55nm to get the bandwith up and make ATi look stupid at the high rez.

That's true, a card with that 512 bit bus and GDDR5 memory =Bell wrote:

Again @haffey. Tho my point was considering they have done the ''hard'' work with a 512bit pipe, I would of thought implimenting GDDR5 wouldnt be THAT much of a difficulty. With that said though, I suppose ATi cracked 512bit (ish) with the 2900.
Though I think at the moment ATi is cleaning up. I wonder how companies like alienware, dell, HP etc will go. As it's the big OEM's that determine how succesful a card is not us lot.

The P5E64 WS Evolution runs 4: although two are x16 and the other two are x4.Bell wrote:

On a similar note, what is the name of the X48 board that can run 3 GPU's (eventhough one is only 4x)?

Wow, never seen this mobo before, only P5E WS pro. Naice!haffeysucks wrote:

I'm no fan, had a geforce then 2 ATIs, 2Geforce's and now I will be going with ATI again. I buy what has best performance/price ratio and atm that is ATIs new HD4xxx series. Thats why I voted ATI. Hope fans won't vote for something just cause they are fans of a GFX card company...
The 4870 is just behind the GTX280 in terms of performance, so why spend moar when you can spend less? Charmin Ultra, less is moar.Poseidon wrote:

Yeah, I'm such a fanboy, having had an ATi card up until Summer '07.haffeysucks wrote:

Haffey, you're THE most obvious fanboy in the tech forums. It's almost completely obvious. So please, stop calling others fanboys.
But others say I am. You have no sense for humor.Poseidon wrote:

I love how this becomes a huge debate . But I dont really see the justification in that Nvidia card even if price is not an object, the overclocked versions of that 4870 without CCC restrictions will no doubt beat the GTX 280 for little over half the price. Hell you could buy another 360 buddy incase your other one RROD, your way ovedue one right? The Poseidon > everyone (except me).Poseidon wrote:

Haffey, you're THE most obvious fanboy in the tech forums. It's almost completely obvious. Always bashing Nvidia cards as of recent. I'm a neutral party, I like both but would like to go for the GTX280. If he's got the money, why shouldn't he? So please, stop calling others fanboys.
Either way, my comment stands. As I just said on Xfire, I want the best card possible, and I'm sure Slayer does too. Whether it be an Nvidia card or a ATi card no matter the price. Right now, the GTX280 IS that card. If the 4870x2 when it comes out is that card that's the best, then he should get that! But it's not even out!haffeysucks wrote:
