Even Saudi Arabia's promise to pump more oil onto the market hasn't dropped the price of a barrel of crude, which hovered Wednesday morning at around $137 a barrel - very close to the record high hit earlier this month.

Reported Wednesday from London, where any driver will tell you, it's not just Americans suffering at the pump, and they certainly aren't suffering the most.Filling up isn't going to feel better anytime soon. Almost everywhere, consumers are feeling the pain.

Eye-watering prices at the pumps across the globe can make what Americans pay seem like a bargain, and getting behind the wheel feel like an outrageous extravagance.

In the U.S., the average price is $4.10 for a gallon. Russians pay about the same.
In Japan the average price is $6 a gallon
In Israel the average price is $10 for a gallon.
In Europe the average price is $10 for one gallon of gas.
In Mexico the average price is $2 for one gallon
In Iraq and Saudi Arabia the average price is about $1.50 for one gallon
In Iran the average price is about $1.20 a gallon
In Venezuela the price is about $0.15 for one gallon.

Fuck that.
Those socialist countries you listed actually give something back to the tax payers like college and healthcare.

If we give the American government that power all we will get is fucked.

Chavez set the price that low because the country produces oil itself anyway and to make himself popular with the masses. If I'm not mistaken they also tend to drive old American cars that would drain oceans of gasoline to the point where there'd be nothing left but muddy puddles.

In Christchurch, New Zealand its USD 6.02/gallon, for 91.  This is fairly indicitave of the whole country.

According to google:
1 litres = 0.264172052 US gallons
1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres
1 New Zealand dollar = 0.7572 U.S. dollars

Math:
(3.78541178 * 2.10) * 0.7572 = 6.01925898
Rounded up to 6.02

Are we all using the same definition of gallon in our calculations?  I've (obviously) used US liquid gallon.

Roughly 7.22$ a gallon in Greece. Adding to that our ridiculously low wages (minimum wage is about 945$), things seem pretty tragic atm...

fuck you guys have it sooo cheap!
