Its actually just as much Microsoft's fault as Creative.  They removed direct sound so now Creative has to emulate it.  But, Creative drivers suck even before Microsoft's fuck up.

Yeah, I agree that MS fucked up. But it pisses me off that creative still labels their cards as "vista compatible" when you lose 50% of the cards features using it with vista.

Of course.  When a new OS is released, everyone has a bone to pick with it, as naturally there are a lot of bugs.

But some people just won't stop complaining about how dumb, how stupid, how god-awful it is.
Have I already posted this?

Uhh You know you're not supposed to go from Vista 32 Bit to 64 Bit. There's a reason why they are 2 very different versions. It's all about your hardware.

The BSODS are more then likely hardware conflictions with Vista 64 bit.

The funny thing is Microsoft put blocks in the OS to prevent just the thing.  It won't let you install it over a 32-Bit version. lol

Not that I'm saying you're wrong, but where d'u get that idea from?

I've certainly not seen anything to that effect.

Uhh have you ever tried to install a Windows 64-Bit OS over a 32-Bit OS while trying to keep your files?  You can't it won't let you.  I've tried my self.  Unless I happen to get a fucked up version it would not let me.  I even tried to do a boot upgrade and it said it could not.

No, I've not, which is why I said "I'm not saying you're wrong".

I just seems odd that I've never seen anything about this issue before.

Also a quick google, and the fact that Microsoft will supply 64bit Vista to purchasers of non-Ultimate Vista Retail, suggest it is possible.

That I can understand - for those idiots silly noobs misguided fools poor people that only have one HDD containing one partition with both data and OS/apps/etc all crammed into it, it's the easiest way to do it.

How long does it take for each OS to boot?  Exact home much time?  10, 20, 30 seconds?

That's because Vista 32 Bit only supports 3 gigs of ram. You had too much ram for the OS. The slow booting / slow OS / BSODS were hardware incompatability. Surely you knew this?

Sydney its like you were quoting me. I also installed Vista twice and second installed seemed even worse. I'm giving my disc to charity.

The 64bit version is supposed to be shite though isn't it? At least, there's very little driver support for it. Or so I hear.

What problems are you having with the OS?

Driver support is on the same bases as the 32-Bit version.  This is per Microsoft orders to hardware manufacturers.  Most the of them did what Microsoft wanted but some of the older hardware was just discontinued because they did want to make drivers for Vista.  A good example of this is my capture card will not work with Vista.  If you check hardware made in the past 2 years you will notice 99% have 64-Bit drivers.  Another example of this is the thread that talked about the next Windows OS... Windows 7 I believe.  In the news it say that Microsoft ordered manufacturers to start making drivers or the drivers would not be signed by Microsoft come time the OS is released.

Same as Sydney-slow OS on boot up and in windows, software incompatibility, windows errors, icon problems, etc

How slow are we talking about? 10, 20, 30 seconds?  Takes me around 30 seconds to boot depending if I am update Windows or not.

Software incompatibility is always going to be an issues.  Xp has problem when it was first released.

What windows errors were you getting?  Hardware related or software?

Icon Problems... like too big?

What are your specs?  Link me if they are posted in the hardware thread.

I want to add that i'm run a K8 CPU w/ 4GBs and the only time I have hardware issues is when I overclock too high.  I do however have a few software issues but their all from games.  ROSE Online won't work in full screen mode for some odd reason.

Who said anything about vista 32? I'm talking about vista 64.

Hardware incompatibility? Why are you protecting the piece of shit that is vista?

Vista works well on some hardware.

And not so well on other hardware.

That happens.

Try running Windows 3.1 on the latest offering from Alienware - use any of the fancy hardware on board? I think not - crashy crashy? I think so.
