lag in BF2 with a 9800 GT

my friend recently got a Nvidea 9800 GT overclocked and he is still getting lag in bf2.
i have no idea why its lagging in bf2 but not call of duty 4, which he has everything on high.

when i had a 6600 and 3 gigs i could run bf2 on high and be fine.

but hes got 4 gigs of RAM,his 9800,500 watt power supply/ and a better proccesor then i have.
his system beats mine in everything but the hardrive, hes got a 40gig and ive got a 160.

could the hardrive actually cause the game to lag when everything else is top notch?

i also suggested to him to get a better power supply because minimum req. for the 9800 is 450 and hes got 500. could this also be the reason hes lagging.

please give me some idea what is causeing this so i can own him up in bf2 without him bitching about lag lol.

You probably meant 8800GT or 9800GTX. I don't believe 9800GT is out yet otherwise i would post something about it.
Post full specs of his rig plz.

Maybe he's just making excuses. As .Sup said, post full specs please.

Also, what FPS is he getting, and on what settings and resolution? Is he using AA? (The command to show FPS in BF2 is "renderer.drawFPS 1")

Well, he needs to tell us what the real card model is before we can start doing some BF2 issue research...The 9800GT doesn't exist. Yet.

ok sorry its a Geforce 9800GTX 512 overclocked PNY

and no hes not making excuses ive seen the lag and it happens real bad when ge gets in the thick of the fight.

on a 20 man or lower its fine but anything above that with lots of action it lags.\

and he got his new hard drive today so hes going to get the new drivers.

i will update again once he gets drivers. thanks so far for the halp

I had a similar problem like this..., ask him to re-seat his RAM, and make sure the connectors are clean. Did the job for me.

Is he getting lag, or a drop in FPS?

If it lag its his internet connection, but if it FPS problem probably could be the drivers.

yea its fps because when hes around few people its fine but when he gets into a heated battle it goes to shit on him.
