I always use static map, that way I can easily know where the enemy is when someone says "to the east" for example. I get lost if I set it to follow player rotation.

Static.
static. it is a lot easier to know where the enemy is
Map rotation follows player
I never have used static before I might try it out now.

Rotation, static always irked me. I don't like to angle my head to see where I'm going, and the white compass like markings leading from your dot on the map is hard to notice IMO.
Rotation.
I prefer having my personal 12 at the 12 on the mini map.

"people in ny have a general idea of how to drive. one of the pedals goes forward the other one prevents you from dying"
Oddly enough, i have it static in BF2, and rotated in 2142, for unknown reasons.

You can see when other team mates die much more easily. (their icon snaps to north)

Static was in BF1942, so I kept to static.
Static. Spinning map seems daft to me, but heyho
Rotating
i only play karkand. i know it off by heart i do not need a map.
I use a static map, I can't see the sense of a rotating one personally.
Pretty much it ^elmer_42 wrote:

I've always used rotation. It goes back to my days of learning map reading and all that, where you always read the map in the direction you're facing. So it was just natural for me to choose the rotational map that followed me. It also made things much easier in jets and stuff, seeing as the rotational map is similar to the shit you get in aircraft.
Rotating.
I didn't even think of that. I really rely on that a lot. (BTW It doesn't work in the commander screen. ) There's probably heaps of people that use rotating maps that don't realise you you point north when you die. That's the kind of thing that was the reason for the poll; it's seems like a trivial option, but it can be important.Wallpaper wrote:

Rotating = win
You can face towards enemies much more accurately. Assuming you are looking at the UAV.
Then again, why would you refer to your minimap when you can already see them.

roatating but i keep the map off or transparent dont need map on karkand
Static, so much easier to find flags, switch to the big map and not get disoriented, and tell north, south, east, west.
I've played on friends' computers where they had rotating map and it pissed me off to no end and I kept getting confused.

I was going to have that as one of the poll option. One of my clan mates does that. I was spotting like crazy, and we all get shot except him, and he's going 'Where are they?' 'Um, look on your map dude.' 'I don't use the map.'Tushers wrote:
