I recommend you use what you have and gain even more.
If you have 'quals - use them to get a good job. Get a high paying trade on civvi street and use it to your advantage fully.

Infantry is for the ones who either want life in the army, expect to get killed, or just aren't bright enough for anything else. No offence intended

Don't even begin to think, oh sniping is on that movie I saw, It looked great.. I'll do that.
If you really think you are going towards the career of the Forces, then choose something you can gain from and not what you have seen and aspired to from watching Black Hawk Down, or Saving Ryans Privates.
What MOS (job) are you getting in the Army?
Royal Artillery, Special Observer. Aspiring to pass P company and join 7 Para RHA Artillery Attacthment.

If you are going to contradict my job choice with what I said, I had Aircraft Technician with the Air corps as 1st preference - but decided against it as I couldn't be motivated with 3 years trade training plus basic, with a minimum of 7 years just to come out with a job of what I don't really want to do. Sure the money would be beneficial - but I wouldn't enjoy it.
That's cool My grandfather (or great grandfather, can't remember) was an artillery officer for the Canadian Forces.

I said 7 Para RHA....

I could also go for 29th Cmdo Regt. But Damn that's a much harder course to pass.

ok... where did I indicate that I didn't get that part? I was saying that, like you, my grandfather was an artillery guy.

No, you didn't.

I meant in self quotation terms ... Everyone on D&ST Is so uptight

I said 7 Para, when in fact i have 2 options at that stage.
7 Para (P company) or 29th Cmdo Regt.

Not sure which I'll go for... all down to fitness at the time.

Do you speak from experience?

If so, then your experience is markedly different than mine and my colleagues'.

Everyone knows you can get training and shit out of the army, but whilst in the army i don't want to be the faggot who sits in base twiddling his thumbs while arty is pumping away (no offence intended). I want action, adrenaline, and honestly, live or die? Fuck I don't care at the moment. I have nothing of value to live for anyway. No car, no girlfriend, nearly no home, no connection to my family since I got kicked out when I was 14. Once I do get kicked out, i'll have no job which means... Army seems like a great prospect, and not because i've seen saving private ryan or whatever, but because it's something that I know i can definetely do, and get good at. I can strive for ranks, and friendships/respect from fellow soldiers, and the whole comraderie thing that goes with it. Basically I can't do shit all in the civilian lifestyle, all i would do is waste my time playing computer games instead of saving for that car or going for that Uni course.

Come back when you've passed the medical, then we will talk.
I see your points obviously - But there is more the life than going Army, going Infantry, and going Front line (If you're lucky).
I you think you have nothing - go to fucking Africa or Niger and live there for a few years. Jesus!

Good luck to you in whatever you do by all means - but make sure you think about what you want to do, instead of just doing it.
And FYI, The artillery aren't like BF2, it's at the utmost of fronts if not B.E.L
