That's true, but I don't think that it would be crazy to say that the vast majority of the population believes things like 'smoking causes cancer' or 'eating fast food causes cancer'.... everything causes cancer these days, and I think that that's a good outlook for society to have -- because smoking doesn't just cause cancer, you still have to worry about COPD and emphysema. I just think that I cure for cancer could be a potential double edged sword; but don't get me wrong, I think it would be great. One of my good friends has been fighting leukemia for four years now and at this point it doesn't look too great for him. I'd love to see a cure for cancer, I just think it needs to come with a warning label....S.Lythberg wrote:

Cancer weighs heavily when people consider what to do or not to do in terms of personal health. Some of those precautions could be thrown out the window should a cure for cancer become readily available.
To be honest, I don't think they're any step closer to curing cancer. How long has there been people saying they can cure it?
It's to get funding from the government, if all they had at the end of the year was "Well, we've actually done nothing and come no steps closer towards curing cancer." No more monies for you then.
