Julius von Bismarck's 'Image Fulgurator' projects stealth images into the photographs of strangers, while keeping those images invisible to human eyes. Depending on whom you ask, it's either a clever hack or an obnoxious intrusion.

Yesterday, von Bismarck's device made its premature debut on the internet.(the video is posted below) Today we met him in his hometown, Berlin, to talk about the device, the thinking behind it and the inevitable deluge of e-mails from viral marketers wanting use it to smash their way further into our brains.

But first, about that name: According to von Bismarck, 'Image Fulgurator' comes from the Latin for 'lightning' (fulgur) and means 'Flash Thrower'.

anywho here is the video of how it works

If I saw that shady bearded man walking down the street with that camera and I was a cop, I might consider taking a shot at him

hah! that's so cool! would get hella-annoying though.  Wouldn't think it would be any more illegal than pointing a flashlight at that same sign.

It is an invasion of privacy, for a number of reasons. But I can see this thing being used at say a famous landmark and every single persons shot is ruined with some viagra ad.

I love how he assembled the device as though it were a custom sniper rifle. I'll be pissed if this becomes commonplace though. All you need is one douche to put crap like this over major photo attractions and we'll need to figure out how to counter it.

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I'm sure it emits something that can be easily traced back using the right sensors, then it's a simple task of kicking it until it stops working!

Nice prank though

What did he write on the sign?

i'd kick that shit over. because it fires only when it sees a flash its illegal for the reason that its very purpose is to ruin somebody's picture. that would fall as a violation of implied rights in the united states.
