Now, this is getting fucking annoying.

Every time I start BF2 and join a server, I get 3-4 minutes of uninterupted play, then about 4 minutes of MAD LAG, i'm talking 6 or 7 FPS..

Then it goes and everything is OK. I leave the server and go on another and it's fine. But say I go on like 3 hours later, it does exactly the same thing.. Any idea how to stop it?

Specs: AMD X2 4400+ 2.4 Ghz, NVidia 7500LE, 2GB DDR2 RAM.

Settings: All Medium with no shadows at 800x600. I could run high but I prefer Medium for some reason

Disable VOIP.
I had terrible lag as well, tried to reinstall, repatch, update PB... now my VOIP is disabled and I have no problems, though its kinda strange, because 3 years of playing I was used to use VOIP.

If thats not the right option than I dont know...

I have the SAME EXACT THING. So goddamn frustrating. Especially when I'm lucky enough to get in a chopper right off the bat and then I end up crashing because BF2 is in slideshow mode. Karma to the guy that knows how to fix this.

Oh and I have a 7600GT.

[C*1]Indian: well lol i think first you should clean it and put all settings on low and then if it runs without lag then try medium again
[C*1]Indian: that happened to me with the freezing and 7 fps and shit and i just had alot of shit in my card and i blew it out and now its fine
And yeah, I can run a 7500LE on High, with 800x600. I hate high res, everything is soo small..

Getting a new PC soon.

Go all low and the resolution above 800x600 and you should get playable fps at the start of a round.

Its normal. The game is still loading texture and graphics even if the loading process is finished. You know, vehicles, reflections and stuff.

I dont think there is something you can do,unless lowering gfx settings

lowering will just make it load it faster, so yea less laggy, but if you can run the game smoothly after the initial lag i would say just accept it

And it does work fine afterwards, but it fucking annoys me. It's only started happening in the last 2 weeks or so..

Yes way. The 7300 series (7500LE is just a 7300GT in disguise) is underrated. I've maxed BF2 on a 7300LE at 1280x1024.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Try defragmenting your disk. It might be because your still loading up some far scenaries. I get beginning of the game lag too, but all for about 5 seconds. A bit more on my old computer but 3-4 minutes is a bit unusual.

This is not a graphics issue if you still think so.

you need 3Gb to run bf2 on vista (of course if you prefer 800x600 and all low go ahead with your 512mb)

Before I built my new PC that always happened to me. Usually started when PB would do its checking for updates/downloading updates and whatnot, and would end when it finished a few minutes later. I could be wrong since I haven't played BF2 in a while. Didn't bother me before though since my routine just consisted of connecting to a server, waiting 5 minutes, then joining a team and spawning in.

512MB? What the fuck are you on about?

You need 2GB to run BF2 on Vista, actually. I used to run (3 months back) BF2 on high at high res, with 2GB, and it worked fine.

So actually, you're the one talking shite.

your computer should be able to run it fine (not including maybe a little lag at the start, but it shouldn't be as bad as you are saying)

have you tried re-installing it or at least just deleting your profile and then retrieved it?
