I was on my way home from practicing with my band tonight at about 11.30pm when I noticed the entire street leading up to the road where my flat is closed off with flashing blue lights everywhere! As I approached the cordon I got a little view at what was going on...there was a large military lorry (the kind you see for transporting lots of soldiers), 2 police vans, at least one police car, several soldiers armed with what looked like automatic rifles and several armed police. They also had what looked like flood lights set up to throw light on something which I couldn't quite see. The cops told me nothing and only allowed me past after I explained I lived around the corner, I had to cross to the far end of the street and then walk up; all traffic was being diverted away.

I'm guessing it was a bomb scare but WTF? It felt like I was back in troubles-era Northern Ireland again!

There's nothing on the news yet...watch this space!

I used to live in a sleepy Belfast Suburb.
Many a Saturday morning I would wake up in sunny Belfast, stagger to the door to go get the milk for coffee to find an armoured car parked ac cross my front door. With a mouthy 17 year old English squad shouting at me to stay in my house. Or be on the job with the GF only to be lit up by a search light as a chopper hovers over my sky light. Or the sight of 20 people tearing a TV licencing van into tinny pieces. Ahhhhh the good old days.

Totally bizarre...absolutely nothing on the news today about it. That is strange because there have been a number of false bomb alerts in recent weeks and months and they have all made the news but nothing in relation to last night's fun and games.
