Nothing annoys me more than seeing or hearing people use "verse" instead of "versus." You know, like:

Redskins vs. Cowboys

or

United States v. Microsoft

It stands for 'versus,' not 'verse.'

I'm pretty sure this mistake and calling espresso "expresso" are the two most common ones.

I work at an ice cream shop, and we have a flavor called "espresso and cream." Only 3 customers have said it right. 3!

Versus: The Latin word meaning "against."
Verse: Lyrically a verse is similar to a poetic stanza. Commonly the verse is used to "tell the story" of the song.

So technically, if you want to use "Verses", you need to reference it to Music / Poetic / Rhyme not "Against".

That's bad, but what I can't stand is Library pronounced Libary. There's an 'r' there for a reason.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
