Do you honestly think anyone is interested in saving the environment or energy?? We are ONLY interested in saving money. We had a "energy crisis" back in the 70's, Hinda and Toyota came in t oreplace all of those muscle cars that Ford and Gm were making, and all of the tanks that Chrysler and Buick were making...Sounds great, however, as soon as there was "oil again" we invented SUV's and Hummers and shit... Now, we are in another "energy crisis" so we must all think as t ohow we can save the planet ( money)...Make no mistake, if gas were t odrop back to 89 cents a gallon, we will be SUVing and Hummering all over the country again...........Please do not doubt that.
Someone of us here are young enough to most likely be effected by the changing environment for the worse in our lifetimes. I've seen pictures that my parents took of a time when Dallas was visibly less polluted, and my mom has noticeably worse asthma problems on poor ozone days. Some of us want a healthier life for us and our children.
- Harsher carbon tax laws
- Texas fairly recently passed a law where the state would subsidize people with older cars (made before a certain date) to buy newer (supposedly more fuel efficient) cars
- Force automotive manufacturers to sell x% of electric cars, and x% of 50+ mpg cars. This 30 mpg jump is bullshit.
- Replace coal power plants with alternative energy sources, notably wind and solar. There have been advancements in both areas, such as a single unit with a series of wind propellers that is much more efficient that units with one propeller, and solar panels that can be stamped out of a factory making them cheaper and surprisingly more efficient, respectively.
- Government directed, if not subsidized, increase of public transportation infrastructure. This is one of the easiest and fastest changes we can make that would make a significant impact. Getting the bullshit common distaste of public transportation is ridiculous.
