I'm looking at some new memory to compliment my 4870, and I'm wondering: Should I get a 4GB kit (2 x 2GB) or a 2GB kit (2 x 1GB)? I'm running 32 bit Windows XP, so I'll only be able to use 3GB of the 4GB kit. Will the 3GB still be faster then the 2GB kit?

The 4gb kit will be ready should you want to try 64 bit or vista. 2x2gb is also better for oc'ing i have been told.

Yeah the 4 gig kit will be a good choice if you plan to move to 64bit in the future and with prices I would go for it.  But 2x2 gig of mem probably won't oc better than a 2x1,  2x2 will oc better than 4x1 though.

2x1Gb is more than enough.

If you plan on reformatting in the near future (say 3 months) get the 4GB option. And install 64-bit. Otherwise, the 2GB should be fine I run 2GB and the only program I have difficulty with is Photoshop, and occasionally Lightroom.
