NUFF SAID

Just got my HIS 4870. After doing the XML file tweak to get fan speeds up, cranked card to 790/2100 memory after putting some fresh TIM on. Load is 62C in crysis.

this card is FAST, ATI is back for a while at least.

directron has them in stock with 20 rebates.

No thanks, I'm happy with my cheap-o 3870.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I'll stick with XFX 8600GT 512MB DDR3 I just bought thank you very much.

This thing is fucking amazing, I've never played with settings so high and so much smoothness, 16x AA and HDR and 4x AF with all high settings in every Source game there is with no lag.  And on my own computer no less.  Now I know how all of you people who are made of money (pretty much everyone who visits the tech section apparently) have been feeling for the last two years while I had to play everything on low.  That probably doesn't sound like much to you all but I've never played it with those setting before, especially not with good framerates.  Best 100$ I've ever spent: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814150260

Yea I got a 4870 the other day and it is an awesome card, more than double the performance of my 3870 in some instances. Plays everything I have apart from Crysis on max with plenty of FPS. Bf2, max everything, 8xAA 1680x1050 = 200-300fps. Owned?

Stfu. It is a good enough card for pretty much anything on all high at the moment, except for crysis (runs on medium/something low) and Cod4 (some effects turned off)

And it will run Crysis: Warhead on all high.

Yeah, upon closer reading, I realized it was an 8600GT...at first I thought it said 8800GT.
