ding ding ding

i can't wait to get the 16 gig 3G iPhone so i can actually fit my music onto it...not like my 2 gig (which actually is 1.77 gigs) shitty iPod nano
im thinking about getting one too. i already have a 16 gig touch, so i would need to get rid of that first
Do it. Sell it, and then you'll have the same thing with a phone.

Fuck iPods. Shitty things they are. Get a decent one with at least 20GB. 320kbps audio ftw.
160Gb, with mixed 320kbps / FLAC audio encoded into iTunes m4a format (which to be fair doesn't compress the quality that much if you set it up to be liberal on space-saving under iTunes.)

How is this 'bad' in any way for the average day out and about listening? There's a lot of anti-iPod sentiment - in fact it seems to now be 'kewl' to hate on Apple products mindlessly rather than the original movement of mindlessly worshipping whatever cack they produce with some pretetentious name like 'Air' attached to it as a suffix. The simple matter of fact is that the alternatives either lack some must-have features, or they're simply not as good as the iPod. Love or hate Apple, the iPod is the big boy in the mp3/mp4 market, and is the consumer's choice.

Steering away from this pointless battle of fanboyism... Does anyone know any properly decent methods of mass-finding album artwork for iTunes? Winamp and iTunes each have their own 'basic' artwork downloaders, but their choice and range is fairly limited. I found a great program that I mentioned earlier which basically uses Amazon's and Google Images' search engines to find the album artwork- and then downloads and applies it automatically seamlessly, hundreds per minute... yet again even this has some inconsistencies. Looking for a really solid remedy, if one exists!

Damn, what I really miss about my original video iPod was that it was manufactured so many millenia ago that it preceded the ludicrous EU legislation imposing a 'maximum decibel limit' on all mp3 devices. This new 160gb iPod is great, and the reworked interface and new features are spiffing... yada yada... but the maximum volume on it is ridiculous. I cannot believe that law was even passed- it's madness to impose an objective limit on sound when it differs so greatly from earphones to earphone and listener to listener. Even now on my high-quality Shure earphones it isn't loud enough to block out the sound of traffic or background noise- poor to be honest

A depressing thought that even rival products will have the same volume cap. If only I'd remembered this complication whilst in my eagerness to replace my broken one... I would have imported an iPod from America with the US firmware that comes without the limit.

Anyone know any workarounds? Earlier Nano's and iPod video's had programs that could crack the encryption on the firmware, but so far since the late-2007 release of the 'iPod Classics', no one has bothered / been able to get around the block. Gah!

Crazy isn't it? The fun thing is it was suggested and proposed by the French government, and passed in French law... but because of EU regulation and the legal hierarchy of the European Union (i.e. European Court of Human Rights takes precedence over every nation's legal system in civil terms) we all have to endure the arbitrary restriction all over Europe. On all of our MP3 players! It's so unfounded, different people have different natural 'limits', various devices can easily be bought to sidestep or amplify the sound anyway etc.

Blah, could rant on about it all day- but alas! Still without any fix

That really sucks, man...you should've bought a new one off eBay. The fifth generation ones I mean.

To be fair I think most of the 5th gen ones have it too, the law was passed and effective according to an Apple press-release in 2004...
