Be glad we live in countries where we at least have a chance of trying to get laws changed. You're telling people to either stick with the law or get out, that shit is more like China or Iran. Actually they just lock you up or kill you.

It's not like you're trying to legalise murder. I'd tell someone to gtfo of they tried to go for that too.
That is not what I am telling them.  I say that to people who always bitch about it.  This is just one in his long line of oppressed complaints.

1. It is a rare occasion the government ever does its job of serving the people.

2. I'm not pissed, usually stoned. Hard to be mad.

Just conversing over another disservice to the people for little reason other than collecting more tax. The original reason America became.

Well, guess what pays for the roads your veggie cars will drive over?

The roads will be paved either way, just like a multi trillion dollar war can be waged either way.

Generally speaking, drama queen refers better to people that make a big deal out of other people making a big deal out of something, when the said person has no substantial defense for their own criticism of someone else's point.

Watch it become common and the prices for vegetable oil and its source rise.

Ummm... my defense is that it is illegal and the law is enforced.  He provided no link to the OP.  Well, but nobody jumps on him for it.  So whatever.  Go eat a cock with your double talk mkay.

The EPA hates diesels and for some reason loves hybrids. I think it has to do with the lobbyists from Detroit and big oil. Detroit wants to keep things simple and cookie cutter with a gas engine in every car and not bother having multiple type of power plants like gas, diesel, electric and hybrid or having a lot of competition from Europe where lots of cars are diesel. Big oil doesn't like veggie oil because they are not in the loop and don't get a buck and if you use waste veggie oil its practically free.

Hell the EPA didn't even want VW to advertise the fact that TDI Jettas and golfs get 49 mpg. The EPA consistently underates diesels, and state that VW TDI only get 35 mpg. While at the same time the EPA was over estimating Hybrids and advertisements were stating 60 plus MPG.

I think that the EPA and everyone else is afraid that people will start falling off of the grid and that they will have to think outside the box in order to generate revenue. The future is an annual road tax based on mileage driven.

In short, it does not surprise me that the EPA considers veggie oil in cars to be illegal even though its cleaner than real diesel. The EPA needs to catch up and while they are back there they might as well kiss my A$$.

Detroit already has gas, diesel, hybrid, and soon electric ... but I agree the EPA is annoying in more ways than one.

This thread fails, it is not illegal anywhere in the US to run your vehicle on veggie oil.  It is in no way tax evasion, use your heads.

Vegetable oil is pretty logical. Why exactly is it illegal? I know over here there was a program where these two girls converted their normal petrol / diesel car into one running on vegetable oil - it can fine.  Hell, you can even dunk a computer into it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ8L1Prl6tk

If it was illegal you may have been correct, but until then you fail.

The conversion of an automobile engine to burn vegetable oil is not legal under US Environmental Protection Agency guidelines.[9] The EPA has not fined anyone for doing so, but certain laws may have to change — or a certification process may need to be established — before VO conversions become more popular in the US. Meh, according to Bubbalo, I'm a murderer if I kill a burgular inside my home in self-defense -sooo murder is legal.

You must care enough to bring it up.  Anyway, do you think the law is justified?

The original diesel engines ran on peanut oil but it was more expensive then diesel (it was clean unused oil).

I care enough to point out the glaring hypocrisy.

I dont know if it is just.  I do not know enough about it.  I can tell you it aint worth it up north due to the cold.  Maybe they have their reasons?  They dont want stranded cars all over half the country on a cold day in November?

I just figured it was the government overreaching their authority by telling us what we can put in our cars.  If it's a pollution issue, I understand, but other than that, doesn't it seem a bit nanny-state-ish?
