does anyone know, how many versions there are of david lynch's dune?

is there more than one version for movie theaters?

i know there's a tv-version with a 10 minutes prolog, that hasn't been approved by lynch and that's why it says in the credits, the direcotr was "alan smithee"

any more versions?

I'd say there is only one, but one is projected for release in 2010

The original cut was over 4 hours long but the studio weren't having that because that would mean you could only show it less times a day in theatres and therefore make less money. There was 2 versions of the film in it's current form cut, I think, one for the initial cinema and video release and a version that was cut for TV that was then also released later on video/DVD. I saw a copy in GameStop of the TV cut and it actually had Alan Smithee credited as the director (which as any film buff will know is the name attached to a film when the director washes his hand of it).

It is weakest movie by far and he is completely embarrassed by it.
