I keep getting the "Windows did not start successfully" screen where you have the options to choose start in Safe Mode, the Last Kown Good Configuation, or Start Windows Normally. Windows will start in safe mode, but when I select the other options the Windows XP loading screen appears with the loading bar, but then it goes back to the "Windows did not start sccessfully" screen. This apparent "loop" occurs for all of the options excpt for the safe mode ones. This all started after I tried to use system restore and that just froze so I restarted the comp.

Intel C2D E6600 @ 2.4 ghz
2gb ram
ASUS P5L VM 1394 mobo
7900 GS

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You need to think more for other people.

Yes, that will fix the problem, but it will cause so many annoyances that I don't think this answer should be posted first, but more as a last ditch attempt.

The Windows Repair thing is a good idea, though.

Windows was loading all the startp programs and I launched system restore. The last major thing I did was update my sondcard drivers a few days go, because I was trying to fix another problem. I was using system restore to get my systm back to when I had the older soundcar drivers installed.

edit:I'll try the windows repair and let you guys now.

Well, I clicked on the Repair Windows Option that came up when I booted from the CD, but it took me to a Recovery Console which I have no clue what to do (as in I can type commands in and stuff).
