I'm glad it's just a mental recession. I'll go a head a issue payroll checks this week. And when I get the overdraft fees I'll tell the bank that it's a " mental overdraw ", and to quite their whining.

Former senator Phil Gramm, a top economic adviser to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), referred to the economic slowdown as "a mental recession," and referred to the United States as “a nation of whiners.”
Good one John McCain. I somehow have gone from detached apathy about your campaign to a deep mistrust and casual hatred.
I bet you don't even carry Arizona.

He's got my vote.

When Australia was in recession our Prime Minister at the time Paul Keating said it was "the recession Australia had to have."

This seems like an equally uninformed opinion that is also likely to cost support.

Hey, we in Germany have, what our politicians like to call a "felt inflation"! We dont really have less money in our pockets - i.e. have to pay more and more for food, energy, clothing etc. - it just FEELS as if we do! Strange things, these feelings, arent they?

Our Taoiseach said we all have to "stop 'talking down' the economy" a couple of weeks ago.

that was a bit different. We had a massive change in fiscal policy plus our interest rates were at 18%.

I think plan B is that we all start clicking our heels together and keep repeating "there's no place like home...there's no place like home..."!

Phil is the kind of guy I'd hate even if I was Republican.  Both he and Trent Lott strike me as Jesse Helms decoys.
