At GDC Paris today, Ben Cousins, executive producer at EA's DICE studio, has confirmed that the team is currently working on no less than five titles in its Battlefield franchise.

EA announced at the start of the year its first entry in the free-to-play market would be Battlefield Heroes, and the publisher is set to release Battlefield: Bad Company for home consoles this Friday.

But the team is also at work on three other games based on the series, including a traditional core game aimed at consoles, and a new collaboration with Neowiz specifically for the Korean market.

"Since the start of this year I've been working as executive producer for the entire Battlefield franchise - we've got five titles in development at the moment, which is probably more than you expect," Cousins told the GDC Paris audience during his keynote presentation.

Battlefield publisher Electronic Arts holds a 19 per cent stake in Korean outfit Neowiz – which operates FIFA Online in the region for EA – and the two companies announced last year that they intend to co-develop four more titles for Asia, with Neowiz set to publish two of the projects in Korea and Japan.

Cousens told GamesIndustry.biz recently that the desire to work in the free-to-play market came from a business trip to South Korea and analysis of the region which showed piracy had destroyed the traditional publishing model.
So we've got Battlefield Bad Company and Battlefield Heroes that we know of, and then the article mentiions 3 others...one's for the Korean market so we don't need to worry about it and it'll probably suck like CounterStrike: Online, one's for consoles (BF:BC sequel? Probably not I'm thinking) and one's a "secret". Could this mean Battlefield 3??!

Lets hope this doesn't spread them too thin though. I'd rather have one really good title than 5 shitty/mediocre titles.

Really, why don't you save the criticism and 'shitty new battlefield' games until they actually come out. I heard a lot of goods things about the frostbite engine, and I try to preserve my actual commentary for after an hour or 100 online.

+ it looks like BF:Vietnam on a BF:2 engine.

"BF Korea" as you call it isn't coming to the market ... it'll only be for sale in Korea.

Queue you all bitching even though before you said it'll suck

What? Decipher please.

Freely translated:
Everyone put a sock in your mouth before bitching and moaning about a bad next BF title.

Then again, many of you bitch about BF:2 & BF:2142/NS and still you play it

When I meant to £15.99 remark, I meant £15.99 in Korean money

I kinda meant I'm sure a lot of you blatantly thought "I'm sure it'll suck" and yet you'd be hypocritical enough to buy it. But hey, everyone is a hypocrite at one point I guess.

I'm betting my ass that Korea is going to take one of the older versions of the game and give it more guns and vehicles. By then you people will be in rage due to that you can't get the new stuff that game gets because it still have the same gameplay but with more stuff to it. You know maybe they will re release BF2 due to it being rather popular. But at the same time add new stuff to it. I'm willing to bet you would want it right away.

It was the same with CS Online when the CS 1.6 people got to know about and saw that they got 6 whole new guns. They instantly wanted those weapons in CS 1.6 because it should be easy to implent them. Even if it was a remade CS:CZ game it doesn't make that much of a difference.

I hope they stick to modern and somewhat future type of style because old WW2 games SUCKS and generally really really boring.

I don't think some people here get it...the Korea game is NOT FOR US. Nor will it be based (game wise) in Korea. It's for the KOREAN MARKET.

Sheesh.

That pretty much means 1 BF title for me, as I don't have a console that could run something similar to BC on my Wii. But Heroes on the Wii would be . Perfect graphics for the console, online functionality could be possible, brings BF to just about everything . . . A dream.

Can't wait. Good news lately.
