He should have been able to pray with his troops. Somehow I manage to do it every night at dinner to please my mother, and my dad forces me to lead prayers at holiday gatherings, when I've been to church less than ten times in my life and everyone in my family but my mom is atheist.Braddock wrote:
You agree that he should have been able to pray with troops or that he had the right not to?
I'm sorry but if Church and State shouldn't mix (and I believe they shouldn't) then Church and military should definitely not mix. I can't believe they'd even make allowance for such a thing...what next, five prayer breaks a day for Muslim soldiers? If this story is true it's an example of the kind of appeasement lowing would usually scream blue murder over.
Our military is full of spiritual traditions. You are asking people who have a faith to go risk their lives for a cause. When they face death they need to their faith for comfort. The military assists them in that. This is not appeasment. The US military has Christian Jewish and Muslm chaplains, etc..to help in the spiritual needs of its members.
This poor guy, wh oapparently served his country with honor is now being discriminated against and indeed having his life threatened by people of "faith".....Go figure......Am I the only one who sees the irony in that one?
This soldier is why low stress basic training is a failure.lowing wrote:
