The war was about getting Bush re-elected. Iraq made an easy target to show a position of strong national defense. Americans wanted that after the attacks. The war was not nearly as unpopular in 2003. This was reflective in the congressional votes for the invasion (apparently the majority of congress was taking money from Halliburton ) I suppose it was Halliburton convincing Saddam to ignore years of UN resolutions also.

I would never suggest that we aren't getting screwed..lol. Did you forget about the airline bailout? They took the money and we still had layoffs in the thousands. Every time the government messes with the economy they screw it up. If we let the free market work we'd be much better off. The soaring cost of fuel has more to do with the fed destroying the dollar than anything else.

Lemme try and explain my version of personal responsibility.

If say, I work for a chemical company that I know is poisoning the drinking water, and I don't say anything because I am afraid of losing my job, I have failed in my duty to my fellow human beings who need water to live.


If I knowingly take a loan I know I cannot repay, or agree to services for which I have no intention of paying, I have failed personally.

If I pay taxes to a government that is looting not only a sovereign nation but my children's future, or as an alternative, allowing private contractors to profiteer during a time of war, and I say nothing I have failed in my duty to my fellow human beings.

If I service equipment that has had a hand in the death or subjugation of my fellow human beings I am as involved and as personally responsible by extension for the deaths of my fellow human beings as the guy in the chair pulling the trigger.


So. Sorry to piss you off, but before preaching about my personal responsibility in regards to our economic cluster bomb maybe you ought to give a moments thought to the lives the equipment you mod or service snuff out.
