the people actually had interest in the game. For example we have number of sports here in states and soccer aka football is not on the top of the list its baseball, basketball, football in no particular order. Do you think if soccer had the same success as baseball or some of the other popular sports in here that we would produce better athletes.

feel free to speak

Canada's got some talent in baseball. Nobody's interested in it though. You can go see a game (level just below Minor league I think) for $13. If you get a group of 20 you can go for $3 per person. The stands aren't even half full.

If there's no interest, it won't grow. Our baseball team was sold to the states last year or the year before. Now we have a nub team called the Rapidz.

I imagine soccer's the same way in the states.

Went to an MLS game once, there were maybe 50 people in a 65,000 person stadium, lol

The thing is, even the top US player is no way near good enough to play in the Premiership Top 4 etc so I think it's more a case that they won't ever catch up in the talent stakes.

I love watching soccer.  I've seen a few Premier League teams when they placed at the Home Depot Center.

yes i think there would be potential, but i dont think it would happen quick, especially if they want to compete with any south american/ european teams

Sure why not. It would be harder for public to learn to get as drunk as the brits before games.

What you mean is that you're too busy playing domestic sports that almost no one outside the US care about and trying to rule the world

probably,

the way you play soccer (atm) no wonder nobody is interested in it.

Bundesliga, Premier League, Primera Division, Liga A.. fun to watch,

then European Champions League, good vibe.....

(more people interested - more fans - more spectators - more money - more scouting - better players - better teams - better US team.)

it's same way here, American Football is nowehere to be seen here, Rugby also not much... Ice Hockey... (very small....) and like nobody cares about Baseball (national)

Obviously if a higher percentage of the population were interested we would find more talent... I would think that would be true of any sport/hobby/game and any country.

lol did you? lol duhhhhh what did you expect?

They used to have a Euro American football league but it died on its ass because nobody in Europe was interested.  American football sucks.........oh no hold on, it can't, its absolutley adored in America by millions of people, oh yeah thats right, I just dont like it.

End of story.

But it has a moral, just cos YOU dont like it, dosent mean its shit (anything, pick music for an eg).  There are more people that like soccer than dont. Most of them live in America.

Considering in the NHL, about 9/10ths of the players are not from the US and the Russian league is trying to kill the NHL
And in the MLB, a good portion of the players are Hispanic and were not born here (Jose Reyes, Miguel Tejada), just off the top of my head)
And in the NBA, one of our best players is Canadian (Steve Nash) and it's an olympic sport
And Canada has their own American Football league...

You're off basis. :S

Random brit - RUGBY > PUSSY AMERICAN FOOTBALL
Random Aussie - AUSSIE RULES FOOTBALL > ALL

I said almost... And so what if Canada has got an own American Football league? So then we have about two countries that play American Football, then we have baseball, big in the US, where else? Hockey, not nearly as many countries play hockey as soccer (or football as I refer to it.) I don't think I'm THAT off basis. And then maybe there was some irony in my post as well.

Er, first off, Germany, Mexico, Sweden, the UK and even Japan have their own football leagues. Plus, the NFL plays at (I think) Wembley stadium for one game every year now.

As for hockey, Hockey's one of the biggest sports in colder countries. It's HUGE in Russia, it's very big in the Czech Republic, very major in Sweden/Finland/Norway, and obviously Canada.

There is nothing about american football (edit: in the news/media) over here, plus there is nothing that compares to football when it comes to the following/amount of people who play/watch it regularly.

I realize Soccer/Football is the biggest sport, I'm just saying, saying that we play domestic sports that nobody else cares about is ridiculous, since other countries very well do play the sports we play.

Also: http://www.bafl.org.uk/

No idea how popular it is.

"With attendances from the first 4 home games standing at just over 4,200 the Jets are the most watched team in the whole of the BAFL and one of the most watched American football teams in Europe."

Taken from wiki, so, not very popular then
