hi guys

I want to buy a rounded cable for my dvd rw as atm the ribbon cable is taking over the case :0

Is there just 1 type of IDE interface? As in I have an IDE DVD-RW currently using a ribbon cable and I can just buy a rounded IDE cable and switch em with no issues?

thanks.

Yup. It's that simple.

If you can come up with something creative, flat IDE cables are the best for airflow management since they can be folded and routed underneath the mobo.

That can also work to trap more hot air under the motherboard. You're better off securing it to an open area of the inner chassis wall or upgrading to SATA, if concerned about airflow. Barring that, if you don't feel like cable routing, a rounded IDE cable wouldn't hurt.
