Boohoo? Peewee hockey for 6 year olds is at least a thousand dollars including equipment, and double that if you are a goalie. And that's not including the multiple replacements you will need, since wear is excessive. You can imagine how much a level equivalent to your example would cost.twinke228 wrote:
because here in the states soccer is so expensive to play. last week even for a state team for me to go to the regional training for ODP was the upside of 700 dollars. now if we could get it to be less expensive to play here then more lower income people would be more interested. and where is the talent pool? of course its in teh lower income they dont have all the fancy xbox360's and computers. they lucky to have a car to drive to practice. i live in these neighborhoods where all day everyday these kids that are naturally fast and skilled players are outside playing basketball. these type of kids dont fancy soccer/football because its not there for them to play. i have to travel 3 hours just to play on a preimer team, there is nothing where i live ...
now if soccer became popular here in the states i know that we would compete with the best of them.
I think that's no more room for "new" sports in the US. Don't get me wrong, but you got the 4 big ones (american football, hockey, basketball & baseball) and I don't think soccer ever gonna be as popular as they are. And I don't know if it's enough money in MSL to compete with England, spain, Italy, Germany etc etc.
Also MLS haven't got any major profiles. Of course Beckham is there, but his career is on it's way down. If they got some US born big profiles, maybe they would inspire the kids??? I have to be honest, I don't follow MLS very close so I might be wrong. But this is what I think.
I have noticed that several US players pop up in big leagues in Europe. This may be a good sign that players are so good that they'll be exported. My favorite team in Norway, Vålerenga, bought a US goalie, Troy Perkins. He's been better than expected. Vålerenga is known for having sort of goalie problems.
But I hope that MLS is going to be huge! You guys need it!

America are quite good at soccer already and I believe they will one day win the world cup (in the slightly distant future).
That's because you have the most exiting and best league in Europe.KILLSWITCH wrote:
Well the population of England is pretty damn interested in 'soccer', and England are still shit at the game ....
But I have to agree with you. With a 1st goalie named Robinson, England will be a "medium +" team.
wow that is a nice trophy why win it when you can steal it BWHAHAHA!

It was years ago. I was able to hear the crowd from my house. I was able to get a few hundred meters from the rose bowl everyday because my summer school was right next to it. Saw a lot of people from different teams in the business district where the clubs and bars are. Did wonders for the local economy.m3thod wrote:

yea I can still remember Romario and Bebeto
I remember the womens world cup was played here too.
Yeah the U.S has hosted a world cup, one of the main reasons it did was to promote the sport but they probably care even less about Football now they did back then. So much for that.
When it comes to sports. It's best to just let the US/North America do their own thing. We have F1, they have Indy. We have Football and Rugby, they have their own version of Rugby. We have Cricket, they have Baseball etc... The only thing the U.S is known outside of it's own region in terms of Sports is the Olympics
