prime 95 is the fastest and easiest way

Another way to check your GPU temps is GPU-z.
techpowerup.com

Orthos is another cpu stress program

Ok, Im gonna get GPU-z to check the GPU temps, get Prime 95 to put load on the CPU. What should I be looking for?

EDIT: I got Prime 95 up and all CPU's are at 100%, temps are rising, so far nothing above 45 and Core 3 is still cooler in the 30's. How long should I run this for?

I usually do 10 min runs to do a quick check if I'm stable/not overheating and a 24h run when I have my final OC

Yeah, I just did a 10 min run, Cores 0 1 and 3 went up to 45 and stayed there, Core 2 went to 40 and stayed there.

Now Im looking at GPU-z and its telling me GPU Temperature 71.0C, GPU Temperature 64.5C, PCB Temperature 56.8C, and Fan speed at 30%, as well as my Core and Memory speeds.

Now, does that mean my GPU is over heated just using the internet, or am I looking at something else?

that is pretty normal. It drops the fan speed when not under load. You can change when the fan ramps up in riva tuner. Even though they are still safe I'd try to keep the graphics card cooler. Mess around with the fan settings or just set it to 100%

Ok, everything works, Im not entirely sure what to do with the fans section, I dont wanna screw anything up and Freezers guide doesnt mention it. Anyone wanna walk me through?

I know how to manually change the speed of the fan, I just dont see any reason why it should run at 100% at all times(its rather loud), and I would like if the fan would turn on sooner though if the temperatures get as high as they are...

EDIT: I turned the speed to 50% from 30% and dropped the temp 20C, down to 50 now.

try this. Obviously you can set the speeds to something else or more levels than 60/80/100

Thanks, Ive been using it, ran into a wall though, hes talking about somethings that doesnt exist in my version.

Im up to here in the guide: http://www.vaguetech.com/users/dwood/bl … tuner/#fan
Where the box says "Core Temperature Monitoring Date Source Setup" and he says click on the green plus sign...I dont have a plus sign.. Anyone who uses this know what I should do?

Im talking about the Threshold settings box, I dont have one...

About speedfan reporting inaccurate temps, Freezer was right, you have to go to the Advanced tab and change the temperature offsets. Sorry I forgot to mention that. But instead of bothering with changing those, use RealTemp or CoreTemp.

I got it all working, do I need to run RivaTuner when I have the computer on though? Like does it control the fans?

It will control you gpu fan if you want it to. On my 8800GT the fan runs at about 55% stock. RivaTuner can make it run 100% or 0% but to keep those settings, I believe you have to keep the program running.

Oh, cause I spent a bunch of time setting it up so it would run at different speeds at different temperatures. Anyways, I went and played Crysis a little, seems my clock speeds droped. I had the core at around 750 and the memory at around 1025, after playing, cores at 670 and memory's at 972.

Just wondering but anyway to overclock my Q6600 without going into BIOs? Also, any recommended amounts? Should I overclock considering it operates in the 30-45C range right now even at 100% load. Can they run the same temp as the GPU or should they be cooler?

got any popo lolo intersting?

No proper way to OC without going to bios.

And your GPU clocks are supposed to only go high when a graphic intensive program is running. On 2d they drop back to normal.

And Im guessing a 46 normal operating temperature is ok for my GPU? Also, considering those temperatures, should I overclock?

Is there anyway to keep RivaTuner running without it being in the task bar? I mean you can minamize it, and its never in the place next to the time.

Just close it and it should go next to the system clock.
