During the 10-minute video - filmed secretly through a ventilation shaft - Mr Khadr can be seen crying, his face buried in his hands, and pulling at his hair.

He can be heard repeatedly chanting: "Help me."

At one point he tells the foreign ministry official and agents from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) that he was tortured while being held at the US military detention centre at Bagram air base in Afghanistan.

He raises his orange shirt to show the wounds he sustained and tells them: "You don't care about me."

This kid was only allowed 3 hours sleep a day for 23 days before he was interrogated. A trick learned by the US from the Vietnamese after US service men were tortured that way during nam.
The kid is accused of throwing a grenade which killed a US solder. If the evidence is there then give him a trial and he will get what he deserves if he is guilty.
He has spent 6 years and grown 8inches since he was detained without trial. Is it morally right to detain a 15 year old for 6 years torturing him to retrieve unreliable information? Most 15 year old I know are confused about life in general and don't require torture to spout unreliable information. How can anything this kid says be reliable after being tortured.
I can only presume he is Innocent. He has been tortured for 6 years without revealing any incriminating evidence on himself. If he had revealed such information then I would presume he would be at trial by now. The fact he is and has not. Must mean the evidence is not there to nail him. So let him go.
Its also worrying how torture is spreading amongst the coalition. The Canadian interviewer should have refused to interview the kid until he had a good nights sleep and rest, not after 23 days of sleep deprivation.

Just seen the video on Channel4 news. Congratulations America...15 years old. What's next, are you going to lock up emo's for hating the Government (being that the Government is part of the world, which they hate)?

I heard about this a while ago, apparently he was caught after a US assault on a compound. Someone threw a grenade over a wall and killed a US medic. Initially they assumed it was him that threw it as there was nobody else alive to have thrown it, despite the fact that the kid had recieved some substantial wounds during the attack. The case hit some problems when one or possibly two US soldiers claimed that there was in fact a second person found alive after the grenading who later died/was killed, hence there's resonable doubt as to whether the kid threw the grenade or not.

Well, if they start hucking grenades at US troops.....  Frags and flying lead don't give a fuck how old you are.  He tossed a nade.  You usually don't get a mere 'time out' if you're caught by the enemy doing that.  Besides you don't know what else he's said since then and done.  Maybe he saying "Fuck you guys when I get out.. It's jihad time."  One sided

So do you believe in processing child soldiers the same way as adults?

That's if he is guilty of course, has he had a trial yet?

There is reasonable doubt whether he was involved or not with the grenade incident.

And it doesn't matter what his crime is, how can you justify torturing a teenage boy or any child for that matter?  I saw on the news once a policeman shooting what looked to be a 10 year old child soldier in Freetown, Sierra Leone.  Just because there is a war on doesn't mean a suspension of human rights and common sense... or we are no better than those "evil doers" we say we need to fight against.

Hypocritical is what it is.  I have never seen such a degradation in "US family values" since Bush and his lackeys got into power.  Worst that the US families have let it happen.

How they treat the polish prisoners? Or the gypsies?

The Russians held soldiers of theirs and the Nazis didn't afford the Russians the same rights as they did the Americans (in fact their treatment of the Russians was brutal), ergo your logic fails. Are you seriously commending the incarceration without trial and with beating/sleep deprivation of a 15 year old child? Perhaps this is the reason people around the world view the US in a dimmer light than they once did.

boo hoo hoo... man enough to throw a grenade... man enough to be sleep deprived and interrogated...
Maybe he's innocent...? Can he explain why he was outside a military compound with other enemy combatants...

A Canadian Security Intelligence Services agent in the video grills Khadr about events leading up to his capture as an enemy combatant when he was 15. Khadr, a Canadian citizen, is accused of throwing a grenade that killed a U.S. soldier during a 2002 firefight in Afghanistan. He was arrested after he was found in the rubble of a bombed-out compound — badly wounded and near death.

At one point in the interrogation, Khadr pulls off his orange prisoner shirt and shows the wounds he sustained in the firefight. He complains he cannot move his arms and says he had not received proper medical attention, despite requests.

"They look like they're healing well to me," the agent says of the injuries.

"No, I'm not. You're not here (at Guantanamo)," says Khadr, the son of an alleged al-Qaida financier.

The agent later accuses Khadr of using his injuries and emotional state to avoid the interrogation.

"No, you don't care about me," Khadr says.

You don't lower yourself to their level if you truly wish to be more than what they are.

Just because US prisoners in Iraq\Afghanistan are not treated well by insurgents, doesn't mean that you should treat captured pows the same way (how can they even be called pows - there's no real war, it's a war on "terrorism" ?)

Innocent before guilty? There hasn't even been a trial. And any eventual trial isnt going to be a fair and balanced one. Your bullshitting yourself if you think the current system will be impartial.

HAHA sucks for him.  shouldnt have thrown a fucking grenade.

The army only requires a soldier 4 hours of sleep a day.

He's not a PoW why exactly? Because the US government redefined what one is? Because the US government made up something called an 'enemy combatant'? lol

Even if the Taliban could afford a uniform I doubt they'd bother. Lack of a particular type of attire seems like a very poor excuse for torturing kids.

Read the Geneva convention. He does not fall anywhere under those guidelines. You don't need to bend the truth to make a case for morality.
