I can happily say that these new drivers fixed my mic issue.  I can now be heard clearly in all my games.  However i've been trying to get Xfire video recording to capture sound again.

Select your product and then download the beta.  See if it helps with you.  Also not for 64-Bit Vista users(Me...) some 3D sound stuff will not work.

I had to reformat 2 times because of that....

I've had no problems.  Why would you have to reformat for sound drivers?

Hmmmm.... I'll try out the Beta Creative Console that is on that page and those Beta drivers, hadn't noticed that before. Maybe that will fix my problem of my mic being randomly muted..

Because I have 7.1 surround sound and music would only play out of the front three.

I had a lot of time too, but it was still fucking annoying.  I tried everything, registry entries, driver uninstallers.. it was a bitch
